Cort, Keukeleire and Gerrans would be a strong trio for Yates in the valley before Aubisque if they weren't all cooked from doing seemingly pointless work in the break all day.

Haig not so much of a help there but let's see.
He paced Yates out to nearly a minute over the peloton. I think you're being a bit harsh on Haig - his pull really consolidated Yates' attack.

This is moronic.

Yates sacrificed for Chaves' delusions

So Orica has two riders inside the top 10 and none of them are able to complete with the top 3 riders on gc and they should just let them both ride along to a nice but unremarkable 4th and 7th place?

Exactly! There's no pleasing some people!

A team tries to animate the race and they're laughed at for being tactically inept. They sit on wheels and only attack near the finish and they're boring.

I say a big chapeau to Orica today for giving it a go. I like their style here.

Except it wasn't pointless. They burnt out Sky's domestiques by forcing them to chase all day. Yates attacked as soon as Knees dropped off the front; that's not just a coincidence.

Correct, I saw the dif at 30'' and after a bit Haig dropping, but I didn't see he had propelled Yates to one minute dif.
Orica playing it nicely now as well, Yates had one teammate waiting for him just at the top. EDIT: two guys?
It's getting more interesting as it goes.

Orica has only two really mountain riders. Sending them on the front in the royal stage looks decent.
(not mention about secret deal with M. to kill S. aspirations ;))

I was hoping for someone other than Yates to make a move, but this will do I guess

We should all thank Orica, they're shaaking things up, not content riding for forgetable top 10s
