Ah, the pathetic Valverde 200 m sprint.
That's 200 metres more than anyone else in GC.

Haha, true.

What a clown fiesta. I bet there was headwind. Valverde always so close on the jersey, yet he never seems to be able to get it. Thats a bummer.

Ruben Fernandez kinda disappointing, but he won't ride GC-anyways with Movistar having 2 top dogs.

The man's a one-trick pony.

Valverde is about the least one-trick-pony GC rider in the peloton.

He did nothing wrong today. Or maybe he did, but so did everyone else.

Ashley House and JA Flecha are very excited; they seem to think we have been looking at a stage for the ages.

We are so lucky to be around in the Valverde era. I can get some of the criticism he gets, but to criticise him for putting the hammer down uphill to try and gap GC rivals? What the hell?

200 m sprint after doing nothing in the previous 10 km = putting down the hammer?

My goodness, how low standards have dropped.

Can't blame them. They're payed to fake enthusiasm after each stage, and to hype it before it starts.

Gotta keep the share high.

So, Atapuma will be in red, is he (And of course BMC) good enough to keep it??

He could potentially finish top 5 if he gains 3 minutes or more today

I don't think he will be allowed to get more than a minute...

1º Darwin Atapuma (BMC)
2º Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) a 29"
3º Chris Froome (Sky) a 33"
4º Esteban Chaves (Orica-BikeExchange) a 39"
5º Nairo Quintana (Movistar) a 39"

;)

don't worry guys

Quintana, Chaves and Contador are aiming at stage 19 ITT to put time in to Froome, they are playing safe.

they are waiting for the mythical 3rd week fade.

lol there are 12 uphill finishes here. You expect people to attack him every day?

I agree, he might as well sprint and force everyone else to do the same, than just roll over with the others. For sure it takes more out of the bad sprinters than him.

And you seriously think this is Valverde's only trick?

Congrats to Calmejan. Took it on courage.
A nice consolation prize for Atapuma.
Contador looking better, Movi strong as expected, Sky good, Chavez rock solid.
