Its almost impossible to imagine Froome carrying topform all the way to the wc itt, but its Froome so anything is possible.

This tt is perfect for Dennis as well as it's 30km, he usually doesnt like the very long ones.
He's also very strong at lumpy profiles.

Dumoulin is the obvious favourite, but hasnt shown good form at a WC itt so far. So its pretty open if you ask e.
But this is the first time since 2014, when he was 23, that he actually perfectly prepared for the worlds ITT specifically.

In 2015 he suddenly rode GC Vuelta. In 2016 he had already peaked 3 times. A 4th peak wasn't within reach

I have all my money on Froome, and if he dont win he will hear it cause im at the finish line as well! :D

My prediction is that he is 15 sec down on Dumolin , 25 on Kiryenka and 40 on BOdnar at the start of the hill.. At the top finish he wins by 34 seconds on Dumolin :D

Would have been perfect for Berto. Or Bala in his 2017 alien shape.
TD is almost obliged to win this as he chose to take away from us an interesting Vuelta for his selfish glory goal in this ITT WC. If he fails, damn sure he won't come away with that easily...

There is no contest here. Dumoulin is probably the best time trialist right now but he is also already one of the best climbers. He can even outclimb Froome and Quintana when he is on a good day. He will lose max 5-10 seconds on Froome in the final hill.

Tony martin to find his old form and smash this.

It doesn't matter what form he finds, this isn't his course

THe betmakers still have him up there, never underestimate Der Panzerwagen!

Yeah and martin isnt that bad a climber on his day.

Indeed not, 3.5km 10 percent average ending might be 3,4 km to much though :D. But if he has 3 min on Dumoulin at the start of the hill he wont lose more than 5 min at the end :D

i think froome will go on the podium , while i don't know if the victory of the ttt gives points for the uci world tour

Agree, and it does. You get 500 UCI points for TTT win, so just 100 less than the 600 you get for win in the road race..

First stuff about berto and bala is good indeed.
Your rant about dumoulin.. I mean wtf? Did he steal your gf or something?

I don't hope for an upset. Dumoulin should finally win this. He was 3rd when he was too young. And when he could've won it the Vuelta came in the way (too tired, 2015), and he peaked too many times in 2016 already (giro, tour, olympics). Now he should goddamnit win this thing and get this over with. So he can finally move on to other things (classics, Tour, etc)

This.

He sacrificed a good chance to win the vuelta for this time trial so it would be incredibly frustrating if he doesn't win. That said, it's not like someone else winning would be a huge upset. Dumoulin has only won one international ITT this season. He won that one in an very dominant fashion but I don't think one performance in a whole year can make you an outstanding favorite.

No I agree, Dumoulin is not like Martin or Cancellara. Even the international TT's he won, he usually didn't win that big, UNLESS, it was in a GT, because then everyone is more tired and his superior recuperation/climbing skills kick in.

So he's definitely beatable in a one-day ITT. But I rate Froome a higher danger than Dennis because of the final climb
