wait, wait, it turns out that the best puncheurs in the world know what they are doing when they wait for the Mur? But everyone here assured us that they are suicidal morons riding for Valverde?

Schachmann needs his own thread. Really strong performance finishing with the best and not cracking on the last meters.

Lotto rode like morons. Lost all respect for Benoot and Wellens.

But hell yeah, Alaphilippe wins! Previous editions of FW were raced too easy. Hard tempo appears to have killed Valverde.

Of course you did.

Terrible post. Lotto finished 3rd - a strong result. And Valverde was 2nd - it hardly killed him. Alaphilippe was just on fire - a great performance from him.

First podium for Lotto at Fleche since Gilbert, pretty decent result to me:rolleyes:

If you wanna troll, try harder so it's actually amusing

Bala...philippe

Valverde was a fair way back fairly, symptom of bad day or misjudgement

With Martin out the back someone had to take on his traditional role, starting too far back and finishing second.

QS never rode on the front of the peloton: UAE, Dimension Data and Lotto did.

Your point is entirely invalid.

What this race mostly showed is that Valverde never was unbeatable. I don't think he was any worse than in previous years, but he didn't have the team to control everything and then the tempo on the Mur was super high right from the beginning. That's how it's done.

Lotto could have won had they raced more intelligently.

They should have attacked before the Mur with Wellens and kept Vanendert as a backup option for the final.

Lol stop crying. They would've been 8th or so if they didn't try to close the gap with Benoot. Now they are 3th, what do you think they prefer?

The real mistake was to ride for Wellens and not for Vanendert, but who could've known Vanendert was gonna be this strong.

Indeed. Who would have though that Alaphilippe was correct not to try to close a 50 second gap the breakaway solo. Quickstep weren't so pathetic after all.

Valverde had to recover so many positions, it costed him in the end.
But impressive Alaphilippe, bravo to the riders trying from far away, Nibali & Co.
