This would be a great WC-route. Dno if its possible to cut out some of the flat, 27 km is a bit too long I guess? Would be a very open and agressive race i think.

Still think 27 km long ITT is too short in TdF, but in this instance, its probably for the better. Thomas would be in an even bigger pole position after today, especially after most of the big contender almost lost 2 minutes for free.

So in all instances this century, really.

You can argue that an I probably agree (in the Skye-era at least), but its principal thing I guess. It just feels so wrong to have this short time trials in a race like Tour de France, as well as it feels very wrong to me to have multiple 100 km stages in a race like the Tour. But Im also very conservative in that aspect.

Kasper Asgreen
Nobody called that one yet, so I predict Asgreen near the top

Problem is; he hasn't exactly been taking it easy so far... He's gotta be tired!

You would have thought the same at the end of Flanders.

Asgreen said in an interview yesterday, that he did not expect to do well on the TT.

That having been said, "not well" in his mind, is probably "outside top 5"...... so he will probably still ride top 15, but I would be surprised if he was in contention for the win.

Nobody is speaking about Lampaert..... I think he is a contender today, he has not worked quite as much as Asgreen.

But the route does not suit Lampaert at all. He likes it much flatter. I think Søren Kragh will be second on the stage after Van Aert.

Meanwhile, in the womens race, even if she has no chance on this route, I'm hoping for "Cycle Cille" - because of the post stage interview that would make for..... her brain would melt on live TV :D

Good situation for her right now.

Smart money would be on Thomas winning the stage

Not really, because he won't beat Van Aert. The odds are too low on him on the other hand, so that's not fun, either.

Panzerwagen anyone?
doubt it. And with the women's race still going on, the early starters may have (even more of) a disadvantage if they still want to do a recon

Pinot said, he aims to stay within a 2s per km time loss compared to Thomas. That sounds like a more or less realistic target to me

Vos vossed that one again. Felt sorry for Amanda Spratt though, that catch at 200m to go was brutal.
