From formula 1 racing, cars are actually faster by not taking the 'perfect apex' line, but faster going very wide and very deep into the corner while braking (too) hard, taking a sharper curve than the perfect apex line curve, and thus having a straighter line coming out of / accelerating out of the curve.

Ofcourse this would only work in cycling if one can accelerate very hard out of the curve. This downhill curve is beneficial so I reckon there isn't much time lost.
