Alaphilippe and Sénechal look a bit lonely as the only DQS riders among the large arrays of Arkea, Groupama and AG2R. Seems Cavagna only does the CLM. I can understand Alaphilippe wants that jersey and maybe feels he has to be there now, but I wonder whether it's worth it for him against those big contingents.

What about Cosnefroy, is he better?

So... Rui Costa is the new Portuguese RR Nat Champ (Ivo Oliveira took the ITT title a few days ago.)
Now, we've seen what absolute horrors UAE team can make out of Nat Champ jersey, but isn't the Portuguese federation one of those federations that actually have demands for Nat Champ jerseys?
If you are one (of the many here) that think that everything different from a "full flag" jersey is totally crap you should complain directly to the portuguese federation because that's the jersey designed by them and given on the podium.

Every cycling federation has its own national jerseys, yet the teams are not using them and create their own designs instead. How come UAE must use that one?

(Not that I believe they would have created a better one, right Richeze and Formolo?)

Nothing wrong with a "white with bands" jersey, especially if that's the traditional design. Germany, Portugal, Austria, Poland, Australia and the UK all have such a design. It's a disappointment if used by a country which traditionally uses a full jersey design, such as EBH's Norway kit at Sky, but Italy and Spain are unusual cases in that there are numerous examples through history of them using both full tricolour jerseys, and white jerseys with flag-coloured bands.

The big problem is the "hide the national flag somewhere in the normal team kit" offerings, like Radioshack the bottom line of their 2012 kits to put the German, Luxembourgish and, especially egregious, Swiss flags (at least the German and Luxembourgish flags are horizontal bands as standard). Dumoulin's Dutch kit was ridiculous similarly, and a special place in hell is reserved for the ones that look like the rider is just weariing a normal kit but has taped their ribs up in multi-coloured bandages, like Nibali's Astana kit in 2014 or the Movistar Spanish kits. It just looks so incongruous and lazy. At least Valverde in 2008 and the Sagan Slovakian jerseys at Liquigas/Cannondale looked like somebody put some thought into how to integrate the national championship colours in, even if they were minimal acknowledgements of that achievement. See also Kiserlovski's ridiculous Trek jersey that looked like he was wearing an apron over a checkerboard shirt.

Formolo's kit ticks all the bad boxes. It's been awkwardly shoehorned onto the existing UAE kit, it doesn't pay any respect to either format of traditional Italian champions' jerseys, and by running the flag in its standard form rather than reorienting it top to bottom it also doesn't look like it fits the flag bands format, not to mention that the flag itself is too low on the jersey design, looking like it's meant to accentuate his solar plexus rather than being bands around the chest. The only thing we can possibly be thankful for is that the Italian national colours don't clash with the UAE general colour scheme. One only imagines the horrors they could have wrought had they had, say, the Romanian or the Ukrainian champion.
