Mikkel... I'm disappointed in you! You were supposed to stop at the top, get some nice Italian gelato, call your fiancée, and wait for Remco when he launches his attack!

Of course... that would require Remco to actually be planning to launch an attack.

No, he's supposed to attack with another rider and win a two man sprint without actually sprinting ;)

Indeed re Paltrineri. I checked who won the medals for Italy in 2016, and it is a pretty sad record. The omnium starts not looking that sad.
I haven't looked it up again, but as far as i can remember it's mainly fencing, shooting, swimming and combat sports (the watered down versions of those that you get at the Olympics).

Remember the days when Ulissi used to win stages with his descending. Now he's losing them with his descending

With the race starting Saturday, that would mean stage 1 and 2 are "week 1" - and the stages after the last rest day would be "week 4" ;)

I think - to most - "week 1" is "everything before the first rest day" - and what "week" we are in, is determined by the rest days?
I agree that, in GT terms, it makes sense to separate the 3 weeks of the GT by the rest days, so the first week is the longest. Why is it 10 days this time around actually instead of 9 though? ...

So unfortunate epilogue for De Marchi.
Hasn't been a bad race for him so far.

Wish him a speedy recovery.

No one has ever said "those stages in week 0 were awesome" ;)

BTW - I edited the previous post after you responded.
We could start a new thing (Week 0). For me, because so little seems to happen in the 1st week of GTs, I tend to think of the the “1st Week” as everything that comes before the usual place of the first rest day.

ed. Oops, like you’all just said while I was typing:)

Yeah, but I guess in the Tour week 0 is called the Grand Depart...

?
Ulissi was always a bad descender, he often got away because of the gc contenders looking at eachother, but he's a rather poor bike handler.
