Yates is only 1.22 behind Bernal and moving up slowly on GC. Is he planning something on the last climb?

Odds of missing the best part of the climb from the GC group cause of breakaway 5th places?

Yeah, it’s been the most un-Simon Yates performance of his recent career. No attacks, no wins, no randomly exploding. Big Haimar Energy.
But I am actually curious on what is to come. Maybe instead of blowing up he will totally rule the 3rd week.

Or he will continue to ride like this and does a good but rather boring GC. Maybe thats just the trade off he has to deal with to constantly finish high.

At least until the Zoncolan. He has been a ninja for the whole race. Not even attacking once.
If a “week” = a 7 day period, then Zoncolan is indeed Week 3. It’s something (though not at all important) never clear. Because GTs are 21 stages plus 2 rest days, is Week 3 the last full calendar week (sun-Sat, or for some of you Mon-Sun), or perhaps Week 3 is the part of the race that follows the 2nd rest day? Inquiring minds want to know ;)

Brian Holm (commenting) relaying a "Belgian trick", saying on days like today (wet/cold), the bottles you hand out at the top of climbs, will be full of hot sugared tea, and they usually recommend the riders put the bottle on their back, instead of in the holder, to function as a "heat pillow" to give the rider warmth while decending

Obviously the week starts on Monday, not Sunday.

Intelligent ride by Honore.

He is not going all out, but just fast enough to force those chasing into the red to rein him in.

It will make it harder for them to attack on the rest of the climb, meaning he might survive to the top, where his decending comes into play again.

I think Yates is who Ineos will be most worried about now.

Mikkel... I'm disappointed in you! You were supposed to stop at the top, get some nice Italian gelato, call your fiancée, and wait for Remco when he launches his attack!

Of course... that would require Remco to actually be planning to launch an attack.

Ha! Yes, I knew I would get that response:) And your calendar makes more sense (except, I guess, in Biblical terms). If the weekEND is Sat-Sun, then indeed the 1st day of the week should be Monday, c’est vrai? :)

With the race starting Saturday, that would mean stage 1 and 2 are "week 1" - and the stages after the last rest day would be "week 4" ;)
I am a software developer, those first 2 stages are in week 0 for me. Besides, there are 21 days of racing, which means 3 weeks, because 3*7==21
