Welcome to GT racing Remco, think he may regret riding some warm up races.

He didnt...

And I think it was solid still. He was the one chasing from the other group. Only lost 10s. No big deal. His positioning wasnt that good in the group though. That is what might have cost him some seconds.

The question is longer climbs and multiple ones. How he will handle week 2 and 3 etc.

I'm stoked to see Dombrowski win, not too many Americans winning these days!

Yes. Great story after some injuries and inconsistency that belied what was expected to be an elite climbing career. Perhaps move to UAE will unlock it. They seem to have secret sauce.

bernal looks very, very strong. if it stays this way, the high mountains will absolutely crown him.

remco did amazing when you consider where he is coming from. however, he did only okay in terms of actually competing for overall. depends on whether this is his limit in mountains or whether he will improve steadily throughout the giro. i am concerned it may be somewhere between the two (at best) and he may really show his limits in the high mountains.

Interesting that Ciccone was the strongest rider for Trek today. I thought Mollema would have been a safer bet given his solid record in GTs
Ciccone probably has the legs, but I don't know if a hothead like him has the right mindset to ride for the gc in a gt.

Good to see Bardet finish near the pointy end after a fairly average season so far. Gained about 25 seconds on Hindley

Soler always looks on the limit but finished with Dan Martin ahead of the Remco-Yates group.

Edit: that was Oliveira. Soler with Nibali? PCS is all over the place.

Definitely had a double take when they zoomed in on some trees with Remco's name at the bottom of the screen.

Wait until the next dry mountain stage before you make predictions. Do you think MVDP would have crashed in Yorkshire in dry weather? Rain changes everything. Just ask Ulrich.
