It still looks like a lot of rain all the day. That won't be fun for the riders and it will make the last hilly part a lot of harder.

100% chance of rain, east wind 15-30kph. Since they are making a bee-line SE for the entire stage, seems like echelons could be a possibility, although I don't know know how open (I.e. Exposed to wind)the terrain is?
rain at the end?
The climb is hard. It could be an important stage.

As long as it doesn't fizzle out like stage 12 last year when everyone was just too miserable to want to race by the end

Thinking to Landa. Today s climbs are similar to basque country, so maybe not the best for him. But now he is in better shape, so he must be with the best today. Good day for second line riders as well

Might be the case. But at least it shouldn't be too cold.

Realistically the design helps too. This shouldn't be NTT making it hell for most of the day and instead we'll probably expect concentrated action later

in the pre-stage interview Evenepoel just said that he's hoping for a relatively easy day today, with a breakaway to make it. His aim is not to lose any time in the end, in case there's a battle of the favourites

I'm not sure Evenepoel has the form to follow the competitors on the final climb. Given that he was already riding a big gear on the slopes yesterday. And that is not the way to conserve strength, unless you have no other option.
Today we will resolve some doubts about his.

Its very hard to see beyond Yates. If it was the 3rd week it would be different, but he should be too strong for everyone today.
He is the main favourite today, But eernal should be with him, and I hope Landa as well.

If the weather turns out as bad as expected, the GC contenders may survive today but could well fall foul in the coming days with illness, hope not. Soler to win.
Soler is a good shout as he is one of the best riders that may still be allowed some room to move by the big GC teams who don’t fully respect his ability to go 3 weeks without a bad day.

if dan martin was 5 years younger this would be an easy bet, so i go with almeida, i think he can just hang on on the climb and probably has the strongest finish, especially if evenpoel is in the final group they can do 1-2 punch

Campenaerts and Hermans are the two riders in the breakaway. They attacked at Km. 0.
The real start of the race was delayed by few minutes because according to Rai there was a crash for a few riders, but fortunately without consequences

Nice that there is a proper skirmish to establish the BOTD. At least the rapid pace will keep them warmer.
