100% chance of rain, east wind 15-30kph. Since they are making a bee-line SE for the entire stage, seems like echelons could be a possibility, although I don't know know how open (I.e. Exposed to wind)the terrain is?

Good breakaway stage if the right break forms and the GC riders will come out to play on the final climb. Pink jersey up for grabs.
It’s unlikely he saved that much energy yesterday as he will have been working on the front as part of the Bora efforts to control the breakaway group.
He was pulling for a rather large part of the stage (before Fabbro and Oss took over). Don't think this was very energy saving...
If the weather turns out as bad as expected, the GC contenders may survive today but could well fall foul in the coming days with illness, hope not. Soler to win.

that was Bodnar, as far as I can see. Then Benedetti and Aleotti. Unless it was right at the beginning of the stage, I don't think Großschartner did any work

yeah, before the Giro ge said that he'd have four or five opportunities to go for a stage, and would have an advantage over others due to the fact that he could save himself for those. If that really is the reason for not doing any work yesterday, he better wins today.

Ya, I thought Bora went Bodnar, Benedetti, Aleotti, Oss in terms of work. Maybe Grossschartner and Fabbro helped a little but they definitely didn't take long turns.
It's always good to see the Ligurian Alps included in the Giro. I think the GC guys will stay together until the final climb, but that one is steep. It will be a first test for the climbers. No big differences, but it will give a first idea who has the legs to do something uphill. Evenepoel has a realistic chance to take pink, but anyone within half a minute has a chance.
One question is whether Ineos will bother to defend the pink, knowing that Ganna will probably lose it anyway. (That's not certain, but I think the final climb is to steep for him.) A breakaway might succeed, bringing a complete outsider in pink (and perhaps keep it for the next ten days).

I'm not sure Evenepoel has the form to follow the competitors on the final climb. Given that he was already riding a big gear on the slopes yesterday. And that is not the way to conserve strength, unless you have no other option.
Vendrame is gonna be the one I'll go with from a break. Mader or tratnik could be a bet as but not sure landa will let the go for it. Baladatii seems good at hitting the breaks and Is a capable winner.
Yates from GC. If there is a break, Grossschartner it is indeed a good chance. Don't think any breakaway with riders sitting close to GC would be granted much leeway.
Its very hard to see beyond Yates. If it was the 3rd week it would be different, but he should be too strong for everyone today.
Break is a bit tricky as whilst theres some guys I'm expecting to try and get in the break that are 10 mins or so down (Goosens, De Gendt, Carr, Tratnik, Visconti), they're all so far down that you'd be surprised to see them in pink and will the main teams allow someone decent at less than 2 mins disappear down the road (guys lik Rochas, Reichenbach, Hirt etc)
