Ah you mean the initial one. Well I think his preparation was kind of similar to last year when he was very good until the crash. Also his TT performance back then was quite similar if not worse. So I am not ruling him out of a decent GC spot yet.He had to postpone the initial one because of Covid and then skipped the ardennes to have a proper one.
Well I guess BEX are happy with the change to Giant this year.
If Dumoulin completely crumbles. I mean, Foss could finish between 5th and 10th but i don't consider him to be in the running for the podium at all.Any chance Foss come really good and end up being JV best bet towards the end? With Tom's uncertainty and everything
They also add variability tp each other. Will he have a meltdown vs when will he have a meltdownTBF we need to see what Yates is doing on the long climbs to make pronouncements on his form. In the Vuelta a Asturias he crushed everybody on the 2-3km climbs which this finale was similar to (but easier than, as El Violeo and Carabanzo are very steep) but had a complete pajará on Acebo.
However, the fact that you don't know which version of him will turn up on any given day is what makes him compelling. Having him and Supermán in the same race is good for unpredictability.
With Yates, that is good, but it can evaporate in a day.Yates 24'' ahead of Carapaz in GC.
Dumo got 3rd today, so mostly the latterTo put Yates performance into perspective, in 2018 opening TT he lost 20 seconds to Dumoulin in a hilly course while in superb shape, today he beat Dumoulin by 5 seconds in a similar course.
Either Dumoulin is much worse than in 2018 or Giant bikes are truly a wonder.
They also have Pinotti working with the riders on their TT skills.

And Eenkhoorn second, what everybody had down.Rick Zabel fastest on the climb.
As expected.

2 mini ITTs and both are hilly and technical. Ofcourse its very hard.I also doubt Dumoulin can finish on the podium, so I don't think that says much.
Pinotti was with the team in 2021 when the riders ITT was abysmal - It had to be the equipment, seeing that Pinotti is a high calibre coach.
