Almeida and Ayuso finished together. I wonder if they actually helped each other :O
It look like Almeida worked for Ayuso. There is a brief image, when João came from behind, looking back, and allready some gap to Ayuso, so it looks like João waited for Ayuso.
Its quite awful to be honest. If we want to be a leader he hast to step up. Ayuso and Soler doing their race, but Almeida playing the dumbass, as its one fault.

8 Stages in and we are already down to 7 realistic contenders

i would say 3.

if remco eventually blows, who behind rog and mas will overtake them?

and rog likely to put even bigger gaps between him and everyone but remco in the ITT.

after the ITT, me thinks we could be down to just rog vs. remco with the win depending on remco's three week recovery (as yet unknown).

Rodriguez and TGH both moved up on GC.
Yes, I overlooked Rodriquez who did well. What I was mainly referring to is that there were 4 Ineos right at the front at the bottom of the climb, all of whom were talked about as having some GC potential. By the time we got the broadcast back only Rodriquez was still in view. It’s not that they did terrible—it’s just that we’re so used to Ineos always being there in force (even if not winning) that it looked like the bottom suddenly fell out. But looking at the placements, that wasn’t so much the case.

It looks like Carapaz is dialling in his performance along with the others who rode the Giro. Sivakov is just not that good.

Rodriguez is a talent and one for the future. TGH seems to over his illnesses and injuries but it's debatable as to his true level.

Its not the old Ineos/Sky team of old. They have enough talent on the team and they have the bodies on the final climb but something is missing. They don't seem to be as disciplined and organized as they used to be. They would like to win one grand tour for the year but its not going to happen.

TGH alluded to the issue in that bizarre interview. They don't have the strongest riders in the race.

Sometimes talented riders don't pan out as expected. And sometimes we get a surprise. If you think about it, the only Ineos rider who developed exactly as everyone expected has been Bernal. The rest have been unexpected successes (Wiggins, Froome, Thomas) or have not reached expectations (Sosa, Sivakov, A. Yates, Landa). Hart has been both.

But the well of talent is deep, and we still have not yet seen the best of Rodriguez, Pidcock, even Sheffield.

I don't know the km but I saw it too. It was at the last part of the race before the last steep part. Almeida came ninjaing back and got a little gap on Ayuso und Hindley and was looking back if they follow.

They no longer have the top talents, just a bunch of good GT riders.

I just watched it again and saw that moment. Dosn't look exactly like Almeida waited, he just checked. He could have checked to see if he dropped Ayuso and be happy about it as well :joycat:

But I am starting to wonder if UAE are trying to go for the Movistar model with team classification instead :joycat:

There are two riders visually suffering like hell... like calling the dentist after the race.

Roglic seems to be in the zone staring at a wheel and hoping the wheel is still in sight.

Remco seems great, pictures on the 6th stage showed he was suffering much worse than today... But a picture is ofcourse a snapshot, might as well looked like a sint-bernard right after this picture.

Tao really didn't want to get interviewed but the guy just kept asking questions.

Tao was like: "Jay Vine, who is that?"

Geoghegan Hart was obviously low-spirited. But his answers were actually very accurate and broad spoken.

Likable. Prefer this honest response.

Better than most guys, who don't wanna get interviewed at all or either become kinda rude or fake friendly.

Well, it's the problem that they don't have the strongest guy in the race, so there's not the same fear when they get on the front that caused other riders to fall in line behind them before, plus there is also the secondary problem that because there is no clear strongest man, they can't just all go all out on the front, because they need to preserve more than one rider, there's no reason at this stage for Carlos Rodríguez or Tao Geogeghan Hart to rip it on the front for the other because it isn't clear who is stronger and the team - rightly - don't want to burn any matches unnecessarily.

Heard LR saying it looked like Almeida might've tried to attack Ayuso when he came back to him.

Some say this kind of unfounded sh*t stirring has no place in cycling.

Not me however, I love this sort of petty drama and have never wanted a rumour to be so true. Looking forward to some armchair psychology regarding the body language of the UAE team.
