Giro d'Italia 2023 Giro D’Italia Route Rumors

Page 24 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
A really bad route. We will have to wait until stage 13 to have a proper mountain stage. Lago laceno and grand sasso are a mountain jokes. Not even proper medium mountain stages in first one week and half.
I don't like a route with three ITTs, it's ridiculous, and even more the distance of every ITT. One ITT of 50/60 km it's better than one ITT of 18, and other of 33 km. A proper ITT should have more than 50 km.
The last ITT should be a pure MTT with just mont lussari.
I like tre cime di lavaredo and crans montana stages.
Where are the mythical climbs like gavia, finestre, fauniera that was rumoured to comeback to the giro last year? Stelvio? Vegni is getting worse, unlike the organization of the tour, that are doing each year, better routes.

I mean, there are lots of obvious deficiencies with this route and I don't think it's unreasonable to complain about those. In spite of that, it's obvious even to a regular criticaster like me that this route is better than any GT route in 2022, and probably also 2021. Like I said upthread, I legitimately like the route and it should deliver provided we don't get three weeks of Carapaz and Hindley spending every high mountain stage looking at each other again.
There are always deficiencies according to someone. :tearsofjoy: I've just been here too long and seen too many gripe threads.

Vlasov would be a proper candidate for the podium and a good outside bet for the win. A good climber and time-trialist as well. I don't think this is a good route for Simon Yates and I would finally like to see him go for the Tour GC but he always prefers the Giro so dunno. Lopez could very well come too just like Ciccone and Caruso. @Andy schleck, as for Almeida, on the UAE emirates topic there was an article saying that he will race the Giro again in 2023 and I don't think that he will do Giro-Tour so I wouldn't trust too much what that journalist said. Unless they are going to send Adam Yates to lead in the Giro but he can't podium this unlike Almeida.
