Now now, let's not jump to conclusions. Netserk will investigate the matter and if there is a good chance Tratnik could somehow have foreseen the danger, or did not take ample precautions to prevent the incident then it was Tratnik's own fault. If he got hit by a car, Tratnik should have known this is a dangerous region and have been extra careful. Netserk will then inform us whether it is a matter of bad luck, or his own fault. If it was Tratnik's own fault, you could still say it has nothing to do with Roglic and still bad luck for Roglic for losing a domestique beyond his power. But then you could argue that Roglic should have signed for a different team with more responsible riders, and as such, it is also not a matter of bad luck for Roglic, but a matter of choice. There, i hope that clears it up.
Choosing to disobey recovery plans and to start training too early after an injury == "Choosing" to be hit by a car.

I missed how the descent ran him over. Or did it change course just for him? Which other agent or unforeseeable force of nature caused him to crash?
Danger - risk. Doesn't matter if the danger is stationary or not.

I'm sure you have noticed the sarcastic tone in my posts, Netserk. So it should be obvious i think losing Tratnik is bad luck for Roglic, and getting hit by a car is also bad luck for Tratnik.

Here comes the dark side

It's a pitty Uno-X isn't riding here. We could have seen some epic battle of the Spaceballs between Uno-X, QuickStep, Bora (they use the same helmets), EF and i think Israel also uses the same helmets as EF.

What the hell is going on?

I have no idea of who is starting for Jumbo at this very moment. Thats an added benefit for tomorrow when I realize some random ass names are starting for the bees - the excitement!

But can they still make a change in a roster? I thought it was over after yesterdays opening ceremony.
If he was listed as a reserve rider, yes. That's what I think at least.

You list 2 or 3 reserve riders when you fill your final start list I think. Just in case.

So that should have happened with Gloag either yesterday morning or Wednesday evening.

normally only till the team managers' meeting, which took place this morning:

"1.2.90 Before the team managers' meeting as per article 1.2.087, the team manager - or his representative - must confirm the identity of the riders who will be starting to the commissaires' panel by signing the entry form (art. 1.2.050) and clearly highlighting the names of starting riders. The commissaires' panel shall check the licences of these riders and ensure that they are included on the list of entrants.

Riders confirmed as starters can no longer be substituted, without prejudice to provisions of the UCI Regulations providing otherwise."

And there is a special provision for Grand Tours in the Road Racing rules indeed:

"2.2.005 [...] In the context of Grand Tours and for medical reasons only, a maximum of two riders may be substituted, subject to the common agreement of the president of the commissaires’ panel, the organiser of the Grand Tour and the UCI official doctor and the prior remittance of a medical certificate at medical@uci.ch."

So when Bardiani had those doping dropouts late on a couple of years ago, they couldn't replace them anymore. In case of an injury, it should be possible now.

They're really bringing Gloag then, quite a surprise for me.
It will be one hell of a maiden GT for the kid.

They very clearly didn't actually want to have Gloag make his GT debut right off the back of Romandie, otherwise he would have been flown in instead of Oomen when Van Emden dropped out at the latest. Possibly the worst way to be thrown into your maiden GT but Jumbo have no other reserves left, hopefully it works out.
