Wow, the descent actually looks really bad, sounds reasonable to cancel it, but apparently cyclists will do terrible tactical decisions and will descend it as long as everything is easier.
Why not neutralize the descent? Gaps at summit stand etc. They've done it before. Seems like there are some simple solutions here...

Jack Haig apparantly wanted this climb cancelled.

Good thing he's getting dropped, what a bum.

(And yes, Im watching.....)
have you actually ever interacted with Haig? I have and he’s a good guy and not a bum. If he did this want this climb cancelled this that was an error in judgement.

Vine claims top 10 isn't interesting because he would get no money for it, says hes going for stage wins, immediately drops when his break attempt doesn't go.

Poor Joao, this is what happens when you hire mercenaries.

You can always say that the customers never pay the employees, but in most businesses that doesn't make the opinion of the costumers irrelevant for the workers.
Not only do you not pay the riders, you aren’t even their employer’s customer.

Adam Hansen: "To provide clarity from the riders' perspective, the weather conditions experienced during this year's Giro have been among the most intense. In response, the riders held a vote last night to invoke the extreme weather protocol."
I'm unable to find the extreme weather protocol on UCI's homepage, but a quote on inrng.com:
the compulsory convening of a meeting between the stakeholders (organisation including race doctor and chief of security, riders, teams, President of the Commissaires Panel,) when extreme weather conditions are anticipated prior to the start of a stage
If that is correctly quoted, then the protocol makes no provision for invoking the protocol on past weather. Does anyone have a copy of the entire protocol?

Technically, he did not want the climb cancelled, but the descent (which obviously implies that you cannot do the climb either).

I know Haig is not popular here because his comments this morning. But it's a shame he still has no luck in GTs. He's a nice and open guy

DnF 2022 tour, DNF 2021 tour before Vuelta podium, DNF 2020 Giro, miss 2019 Giro will illness and now this

On the other hand Jai Vine always seemed grumpy and whiny

Breakaway is probably gonna be dead on top of the climb with 1-1.5 minute of gap to show for it
