Why are Ineos riding so hard? What's the point? All they're doing is eliminating their own chances of playing a tactical game with De Plus.

What are ineos doing setting a hard pace, you want the break to go lads, let them take all the bonus seconds off the inevitable Roglic sprint win.

The number of links in the value chain is not what matters. What matters is how actions in one end affect those in the other.
Of course it matters because each connection is mediated by all kinds of other factors. Any random fan on their couch claiming to pay the rider’s wages is absurd. Each fan is a nearly valueless set of eyes on a logo, who might potentially but probably won’t pay for some commodity or service sold by a company which pays teams to wear outfits with those logos. Riders owe you nothing.

The comedy of wanting Croix de Coeur canceled, getting to skip rainy Grand Sant Bernard as a compromise, and now it's raining on Croix de Coeur.

To be honest I doubt the Sant Bernard would really change the peloton group, would probably look about the same as now.

Another exhibition of how great these short and explosive stages are! Derek Gee with 1.30 on the peloton where the sprinter Ben Swift just rejoined!
