by the time the tv coverage starts up the stage will pretty much already be over.

ELB sets a time 25 seconds quicker than Kopecky and Grace Brown just misses matching it by 1 second
It's ok, it looks like they'll just broadcast the key parts on delay to make sure they catch the likes of Kopecky and ELB...

In the first of presumably many disastrous faux pas on the part of the organisers, the first we see of Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig is her out on the bike, and they did not seek her out for a pre-race interview.

could Ruth Edwards make the last parts of this stage more exciting, though I think the predicted rain is now starting, just 5secs down at T1

Marty with surprisingly little information to give about Zabelinskaya, just that she's Asian Continental champion and from Uzbekistan.

There is a lot that could be said about Olya, she is a multiple Olympic medallist, transferred from Russia when almost 40 already and inadvertently therefore has escaped the block on Russian athletes, her father was the best climber in the history of Ostbloc cycling, her son is on Soudal-Quick Step's books and represents Cyprus, she's had a doping ban and was able to ride in Rio on appeal but went on to win a medal there... you could probably fill a broadcast just talking about the wild turns of Olga's life and career.

Yeah, my guess is RAI will do like this year's Girobio / NextGen. Opening ITT as a highlights show, remainder of stages live finales.

tbf I dont think it would have been an issue if it hadnt been for the forecast rain, as they re-ordered the start list and sent alot of the GC favourites out early in dry conditions so as not to completely ruin their race before it had chance to get going.

so we would in normal conditions then have seen the top riders live, even though they started live well into the running of the stage, and all would have been fine. just the way it goes sometimes I guess.

the highlights werent bad, it just got a bit confusing when they were swapping between bits.

Actually, I'm surprised RAI gave the ITT over 90 min of coverage. There's no way I'm watching all of that!

Oh Liane, I know you tend to still always have a bad day, like Elisa did for years, but you're not supposed to have it now. We have to have hope in the first place before you crush it for us.

A win for a great Italian rider is a fine start of the revamped race, but handing out the white jersey to the wrong rider isn't. It isn't the first time we've seen mix ups between the U25 and U23 rules.

This will be an interesting finish. Break of two have over 6 minutes with 52kms to go, with the peleton soft pacing.
