Lol, at Marty praising Trek's work. If they don't catch Magalhães, they will have failed just as much as the other teams.

Absolutely. They have the pink jersey on the line and Balsamo is the fastest sprinter. It's a strange startlist. No Niewiadoma who would have been favorite in the GC. Where is Voss ? she would have won a stage or two.

To be fair to them, if they don't fully believe Balsamo can win, then giving Kopecky the opportunity to gain time bonusses isn't smart either.

Regarding the start list, I'm sure the Tour and Olympics have quite a lot to do with it.

The stage is over. I normally post that no team should help SD Worx but this is one day when other teams needed to help control the stage.

A number of the trackies are not riding the TDF because of scheduling conflicts with the Olympics, but this should not preclude them from the Giro. I will add this is the only certain bunch finish for the sprinters, as I am yet to be convinced about stage five. Anyway, its been an underwhelming stgae.

There's no denying that. The gap did go down on the climb, but I still think/hope Tota can hold on.

Tota did collapse in the last 10kms. It shows the difference between WT level riders and Conti riders.

It’s hard to support against Kopecky most of the times as a Belgian. Because she’s often levels better.

I wanted to see a replay from above. Isn’t that always the case? Always the same replay this stage.

Kopecky definitely swerved to the left in the sprint, but Consonni was just faster today so it didn't matter.

It’s just to have a better overview. Wasn’t thinking someone was swerving. I just like the overhead view to see how it went for everyone.

One thing missed so far is Kopecky gained 6 bonus seconds at the line finishing 2nd, now only 19 behind ELB

Flavia Oliveira won the GPM outright at this race in 2015 so would surely count as a GT jersey for Brazil prior.

Other than that, nothing to disagree with at all, other than the disgracefulness of the péloton getting their act together and ruining Tota's fun, because that's bad for my CQ emerging rider team as I'm the only entrant that has her in the squad I believe.

Cássio Freitas is the true and honest peak of Brazilian cycling to date, I contest.

it was different(!?) Giro then and more important Flavia, now in gravel, isnt from my city. which obviosly weight a lot more in Tota's favor lol...
though, Flavia was great in Rio16!!
having said that, Tota is truly investing in her evolution since little. Family os cyclist, litterely everyone, and going to europe trying to grab any opportunity that can make her get better.. wich she has..
what is her celing? who knows for now..
and to me Murilo Fisher was a lot more influent in the pro peloton than the others brazilians, road captain FDJ/Garmin, plus the 5o in the WRR in the begining..
pitty that she's no longer in the beutiful brazilian kit of last year..

Fischer had that one freaky late summer/autumn with Naturino but apart from that, he was mainly a leadout kind of guy for most of his career at the top level; he's kind of similar to Tom van Asbroeck imo; one insane season while riding as lead sprinter on a ProConti, then a solid niche as a C-sprinter or leadout on a ProTour team for several years to follow. Outside of that one season I'd argue he's not that much more prominent than Luciano Pagliarini was; they have the same number and status of ProTour level wins (Pagliarini won one at Eneco, Fischer won one at Pologne).

Either way, vai Tota, she can eclipse them all with the right development!

Roy up the road most of the day, has just been joined by Pirrone. Not likely to be a big enough gap to mean much once they start the MTF, although it's not a particularly challenging one.
