Morality is just another tool of oppression.

Ehhhh what?! I'm sorry, but your statement is incoherent.

Morality concerns the distinction between good and bad behaviour and oppression is an unjust (i.e. bad, or dare I say, immoral) exercise of power. Given that oppression thus suggest some type of morality, you're basically saying morality is immoral. :p

Some morality (but not too much) is needed for social stability. But don't tell me that you don't have some skeletons in the closet. We all have. We are humans after all.

Oppression doesn't have to be immoral. That is just based on your morality ;)

The purpose of morality is to sway people to act in a way they otherwise wouldn't have. Like in cycling when most of those in power wants to uphold the norm of 'fairness' in order to reduce the chaotic nature of racing, and thus increase the likelihood for the most powerful to be victorious.

Which in my opinion is fair game. It's just another tool of power in the battle of the wills. Maybe a better formulation would be that morality is just another exercise of power over others.

What a great race for Julian so far.

Poor guy seems to be catching some bad luck in this one. Maybe it will put the proverbial 'fire in his belly' for the last few stages?

I think it is an OT reference to Nietzsche's Genealogy of Morality

Well, "oppression", if you look it up in a dictionary, does in its definition have some notion of being, morally wrong, unjust, or however you want to put it.

Anyway your second formulation of this proposition is definitely a lot more lucid as far as I'm concerned. I still disagree with this type of deconstruction of morality, but given that this isn't the philosophy thread we'd better keep it at this, I guess. :p

I guess, at the end of the day, it depends on wether or not one believes that there is an absolute authority regarding morality. I know we differ there ;)
