Yeah, that's replying to LS' post about Albasini. Would you stop ninjaing me?

Yeah but that was quite bad. I reckon for most people that phrase wouldn't be thought let alone said in the heat of the moment. In my opinion you have to already have a certain mindset to say something like that, no matter how frustrated you are.

Who knows what kind of mindset he's been surrounded with. He might very well have known that such a way of thinking was wrong and didn't actually believe it himself. Then he got angry and... instant regret!
Don't even remember what he said...
No, Brullnex is right. You don't say something like that unless you already think that way. Sure, he may have gotten upset, but we're talking about who's taking pulls in a bike race, not a fist fight or something more serious. If Albasini actually said that (and it's not 100% clear - he claims he never made a racist comment) then I'd rather just about ANY rider win than him.

I don't know why people try to equate Gerrans with Matthews. Matthews does stick his nose in the wind every once in awhile (when not bunch sprinting) and hasn't had the big wins Gerrans has.

Would you ever say something like dirty negro, even if you are frustrated? Because personally there would be hundreds of insults which I'd rather use, not just because this is a very racist insult but also because I don't think "dirty negro" is such a typical phrase which you use when you are not thinking about what you are saying.

No, I wouldn't. Because I haven't been raised surrounded by that mindset. But who knows if Albasini has? As I said before; he might not even believe that himself, but in a moment of anger a way of thinking he'd encountered his whole life just slipped out. Of course I don't remember what happened - since it was three years ago - but I could easily imagine an explanation for that phrase, which actually doesn't even require Albasini to even have been surrounded by that mindset:

1: He thought Reza - it was Reza, right? - was riding 'dirtily' somehow, so he called him "dirty".
2: Reza is a negro, so he called him "negro".
Unfortunately those two words together does have some rather unfortunate connotations. But what if it had been, say... Porte he'd been angry with? Then he might have said something like "dirty aussie".

But you really don't think it's possible to have a certain way of thinking deep below - it having entered your mind because you've always been told it's true - and constantly telling yourself: "No! This is wrong!"?

Well, this seems to have escalated quickly.

Back to the racing; I think we could see some GC action today. The first part of the climb to Monte Igueldo from Orio is reasonably tough - a nice narrow road as well should really thin out the peloton and make it difficult to pull back attackers on the more gently rolling part at the top. There is a final hairpin before it flattens out which is about 16% and could act as a springboard for a small group to get away. The poorer bike handlers won't be looking forwad to the final descent either (pretty much the same as the last 5km of Clasica San Sebastian), especially as there is a bit of rain around.

So... judging by this - and the way people are talking about Scheldeprijs - I suppose most people around here would advice me to primarily watch this race. Just a shame they're both being shown solely on Eurosport, so I can't watch both at the same time, like I usually do...

Crashprijs honestly isn't worth to tune in for apart from the last few kilometers... and thats even a stretch. :D

Valverde could have a crack in the final K's. He's been at the pointy end of things already. Alaphilipe might follow him.

Anyone with the balls to attack could do a lot of damage.

Couldn't this be a stage for the Stephen Cummings-types out there?

Alright. Hoping for a large break. There are a lot of riders who are suited for a hilly stage like this.

Wellens, Woods, Brambilla, Geschke, Skujiņš, Roche, Valgren, Vuillermoz, Navarro.. let's see some attacks for once.

Today descents f they are wet, wich it looks for today, are more important than climbs.. They descent Aia, but they could have climbed it. This way the route has not dfficult climbs at the end...but anyway it is an interesting stage for Ardennes clasic riders. I hope a battle at the end with the main favourites and people as Gerrans, but quite selectve.

Strong break. But not strong enough to hold with Orica and Sunweb chasing.

Well, that says something about you, then.

And racism isn't a "flaw"

Anyway, as I mentioned we don't know for sure that he said anything like that at all.

I am not scoring any points ... who would I be scoring points against ??

I am just fed up with all the moaning about what turn out to be very good and different parcours

And if you donlt believe that there is unnecessary maoning look at the start of each races thread

As for why people moan I care little only that it is unnecessary and a pain ...especially when the races turn out to be fine

It seems the first thing most posters do is ...complain about evcery parcours

Not possible to have a rational mature discourse here is it? Having an opinion that you disagree with = moaning. What should we discuss on this forum if not the race designs?

What is your point, besides insulting the people on this forum? Are you celebrating amorality or what ? Should we not give a *** about morals?

I'm sure most of you most of guys have made worse comments on the internet.

Ad hominem. Irrelevant. You aren't making any sense at all.

Don't try to sound reputable when you are not.

"Guilty" or not, he learned a lesson. It is the moral of the story. Repentance is the key.

And it can be a flaw if you don't know any better. Social environment and upbringing plays a huge factor. Maybe he just doesn't know any better. Humanity is brutal. But in some ways, that's the beautiful part of it. We are dealing with real people, not just emotionless machines.

Without the bad aspects, the good movements will become bland and unimportant.
