Starting to look like a prep race for some. Some riders need to attack. I guess they don't care. We'll see tomorrow.
I knew it that Slovenia was going to be harder!

Denz got the cream cake in the end.

for Remco's form curve, maybe it's better that Masnada didn't win.

it's super easy. If Masnada can't drop non-climber Denz, he does not deserve to win
It was not a hard climb , Fausto needed it to be harder. The Denz tactics were annoying, and not that smart as he created too much risk for himself. But fair play that he won, I don't believe it's an undeserved win

I love the awkward pre race interviews with riders like Fuglsang & Thomas, i.e. "yeah it's terrible all these dropouts etc. this is not how we want to race etc.".

Meanwhile:

I think these guys will be more afraid of post-stage activities than the actual racing. All Thomas has to do is avoid a positive test & he'll probably win.
I would think Thomas will at least want to make to put more time into Kung tomorrow (assuming all goes forward as planned).

It's simple - Riders who test positive have to stop to protect their health - And the Tour should still continue.
And many teams (but not all?) would want to make sure they stop to protect their long-term health.

Pinot gaining some confidence against the best is of importance as well, to be fair. And Küng still isn't even sure to finish the race yet

Fuglsang probably needs to drop Thomas tomorrow or Thomas will be the clear favorite in the ITT if it is between them for the win.

Lets see how Küng does tomorrow as well. Last climb is shorter but harder than today. He should have a decent chance for a podium if he does not crack completely. If I were Thomas or Fuglsang I would probably want to gain a few more seconds just to be safe going into the ITT.

So the great Fausto "almost Coppi" was outplayed at the end. Il Campionissimo wouldn't be proud.
Thomas the strongest at the end. The Slovenians should be afraid, very afraid (esp. the one that almost can't beat Majka).
Remco lost way less time than yesterday. If it was a GT he would peak in the 2nd half and win it.

So what does this stage tell us for Tour contenders?
Just like before the race. Nothing.

This year with Pogacar present, there are only contenders for 2nd and 3rd place unless he is taken out by something outside performance.

I have absolutely no confidence that Thomas or Fuglsang will be able to stay with him at the Tour. None.

Fuglsang needs to attack right from the bottom of the climb tomorrow. It's his last chance to finally win the Tour de Suisse. He already has been 2nd & 3rd before.

Israel desperately needs the points though. So he won't go all-in up towards Malbun!

He's obviously banking on the TT not being held. Which doesn't seem too bad of a gamble at the current rate.

Only skipping the TT would be weird to me. You either stop don't start tmrw (because the situation is already bad enough) or you go till the end. Starting a TT with 30 riders doesn't matter.

Also they're entering another country tomorrow. For the ITT they're already in Liechtenstein!

Guess we'll see how many riders test positive tomorrow morning and then find out whether or not Liechtenstein lets them enter!

Wow… Nico Denz really won this hard stage.

First surprise, it‘s Denz who wins. Second surprise, it‘s Denz who rides for DSM, who wins.

I did not believe Denz could win such a stage. And I did not believe a DSM rider could win such a stage.

Congrats to Denz and DSM… :)
