Thanks. Pure class from the 2 riders of the day. Chavannel always does this as far as i remember.

Truly classy for Fabu to shake the hand of a wheel sucker. If Chav initiated it he is lucky Fabu is a nice guy and didn't slap him.

What a *** comment. Fabian would have been well aware Chavanel was not allowed to work with Boonen so close behind. Fabian is professional enough to know that those are the rules.

Can't believe I missed this. Haven't got a chance to catch up with the race, but I'm looking foward to. I followed the events on the forum and ticker, read the interviews and I'm sure I will have the same excitment when I see the recap.

So happy for chavanel. I remmember an interview somewhere in the beginning of the season about his desire to focus again on paris-nice and the paved classics, after last year's adventure at the tour. Was a little worried at paris-nice, where he looked very uninspiring. Only recall seeing him on stage 5 (I think) and he was struggling to hold on to the main group. But he's apparently very strong.

What can he do at paris roubaix by the way? I always had this idea that the race was not his cup of tea, well definitly not enough to produce the kind of showing he had at flandres. But my perception might be wrong.

He had bronchitis on Paris-Nice ! But yes I'm impressed too. He's really grown over the past couple of years with QS. Can't see him doing too badly next week or for the rest of April actually...

I just remembered that when he won his first stage in the 2010 TDF, Cancellara was leading the "strike" of the Peloton after everyone had slipped off the road (rain on slick oily road)

He was 8th in 2009, so has shown he's got what it takes to ride a strong one; in the kind of form he's got now I think he would absolutely contend for the win in any team other than QS/Leopard. I think his role will be QS joker, with Boonen (rightly) the team leader; hell be there in the final, maybe on the podium. Just a beast right now and his mentality seems totally there; he could have won in Flanders and knows it, and is going to be as hungry as they get for this one.

Two cool pics I found:

Classic Sylvain suffering:

And here you can see Flanders' biggest fan again ... we had a thread about him a while ago, but I couldn't remember what it was called. Glad to see he's still out there and still going crazy :)

When you're simply the best humility is out of place. Was Ali wrong to say "I'm the greatest"? :D

So because Cancellara is unable to live down his defeat quickly enough compunded by the fact that his opposite won the race he is now the guy to root against.

Oookay.

He was in the belgian newspaper today. Forgot his name, but I think it was Nick or something.

Everything in that article makes Cancellara sound like an arrogant cockbag, and he is clearly massively bitter about losing the sprint for the second monument running. I hope his chain snaps on Sunday.

Wow, that is a poster in the making! A simply awesome shot that says so much.

Re: Spartacus' latest proclamations:

C'mon, JV gets massive heat for telling his guys to sit-in.
But Cancellara essentially says, "I'm a badass and I'm willing to put my reputation on the line and prove it against the best riders in the world!" and he should be hated for that?

He knows he is going to face some serious ridicule if he gets smoked at Roubaix but he throws it out there anyway!

I've never cared for the mouthy Cavendish, but this is different to me.
Too many riders have the deer-in-the-headlights look half the time, and squabble amongst each other as to whose turn it is to chase. I think Fabian is taking a huge chance with a statement like this most recent one, and I have to give him props for it.

But if he doesn't win at Roubaix, there's a very good chance that he'll animate the hell out of the race and set the tone for something epic to unfold--if he hasn't already. I just hope people don't celebrate his demise if he goes down in a flame of glory while making the race better for all the fans.

SPARTACUS!

I read about the guy too. Apparently, there even is a Facebook group, created by some Spaniards, dedicated to him and his friends:D

Really? Because to me it's pretty much exactly the same. They're both genuinely the best in the world at what they do, and they're both incredibly sore losers.

PR is going to be a nightmare! Reminds of Pantani in 2000 when he was upset after Ventoux and blew up the race, causing LA's only known "bad day"...until 2009.

After the race, in the Sporza-studio, he was not bitter at all. Actually, I thought he was surprisingly sportive, especially when still being pretty much in the heat of the moment. And from what I've read in a Belgian newspaper yesterday, he took his loss as a man too. Weird, those different versions. Stupid media.

Put it this way, he is wrong about one thing and right about the other (but he shouldn't have said it).

Andy and Alberto should talk more sh*t, all this gentleman's agreement and handshakes and what not just means they have vaginas, Cipo was right - you should want to kill your opponent after losing a close sprint to him. I hope Andy and Alberto fail miserably in every race this season for being such pu$$ies

Fabian is an arrogant cockback for talking trash like that, ridiculous how bitter he is about losing a monument, he should just shake hands and praise his opponent, like Andy and Alberto did. Seriously, all this cr*p-talking is juvenile and doesn't prove of sportsmanship, and I hope he fails miserably in every race this season for being such an arrogant cockbag.

Unlike Andy, Alberto already has 5 wins this season. All with more class than Cipo and certainly more class than Andy.

Some guys like the more silent type, some like the more arrogant ones. Some hate both for some strange reason I cannot understand.
