Btw, Hawks should change their away game shirts. They look so ... disco-like with all that shiny stuff on.

Those Hawthorn guernseys are absolutely execrable  .
They are not away jumpers but "clash" jumpers (each team has home, away and clash jumpers). The normal Hawthorn home and away guernseys are very similar, but the brown and gold stripes are alternated. No-one at Hawthorn can stand the "clash" guernsey and you won't see that design back next year.
Clash jumpers exist to sell more merchandise and to satisfy demands from tv execs who think people won't be able to tell the two sides apart if the normal away jumper is worn  (in this case they think the West Coast home and Hawthorn away guernseys would have been too similar) .

Huge weekend of footy.. Bulldogs lift their percentage with a big win over the Dees but now face a rampaging West Coast Eagles who dispatched the league leaders Freo.

Can they do it and hold on to 4th spot on the ladder?

I reckon they could tip over WC and I think the premiership is up for grabs

I dont think Freo Sydney or Hawthorn can win.

It will be between WC, Richmond, Bulldogs, and North Melbourne.

I am quite serious. I think Hawks will have dont their dash, and with Freo, will be too old for the third week in the finals.

I think anyone inside the top 8 can win this year.

Potentially a Bulldogs v Richmond GF - whoddathunkit?!

#daringtodream

WB yes, ofc... But Richmond? No. No team below 4th ever made it to the GF since the new playoff format was invented. If there is one team who could make it from down below 4th, its the Bulldogs. And only coz the universe is ready for them. :)

That is the two things I don´t like about the AFL:
1.) Hefty blow-outs to secure a good Pct. while the opponent already gave up...
2.) The playoff system favours the T-4 too much...

Otherwise, all good. Great game.

WB vs.
WCE-(57%) = Loss

So if they could get this one too, they are an absolute contender. And even if they lose, but not too hefty, they still look good. But would lose the all important 4th place with its "double chance". Will watch ofc...

How about the upset of the year?
Hawks losing as 89%/50-point favourite. It goes without saying I love that. So I said it anyway. :D

Silence about the WB...

Watta a whole anti-climax, if also considering that the Final-8 are practically set. Only Geelong at 9th with a minuscule outside chance to still make it.

living in the west, it's always a tough morning at work following the bulldogs losing to the eagles.

I still can't get my head around the Eagles being contenders, but I really think they are, especially with Hawthorn looking shaky and freo running out of steam.

I thought you are at the WB funeral now. ;)
I think its true (correct me if I am wrong), that ruckmen are the "bread-and-butter" in this game. Holy *** look at that stats and it says everything:
70-28 hit outs advantage WCE.

No Bontempelli can erase such deficits if the ball goes the other way again and again...

But I belive in universe: WB ready to sneak trou until the GF. :)

So still 1.9 weeks to go... and the finals are set... meh... the anti climax completed. But anyway, it was a great full first season for me. Now bring on the finals, skip the rest of the H/A season.

Forgot the weekly WB preview... so here it is after the game:

NM-(48%) = Win

:) it was. But...

... Sydney back on track, Franklin back, today is Pct-Day :D w/a HT lead of 66-27. So the WB win seems like have been for nothing. The WCE loss was kinda "neck-breaker".

Was at the Freo Sydney game yesterday, Sydney could have put the game away in the first quarter if they could have judged the ferocious freo doctor that was blowing a bit better, so many set shots in the first quarter sailing through for points.

And freo, plenty of excitement but can't convert opportunities, they just can't kick a score, was it 4 goals in the first quarter and then 4 or 5 for the rest of the game.

I think their preliminary final against Hawthorn or Adelaide will be really interesting.

And the bulldogs, a heartbreaking loss, but plenty of reasons to be optimistic heading into 2016.

Shame about the Tigers today, it looked like a good game, I missed the second half though - at the local after hours GP with a sick 2 year old. Fun.

to me, this year is either West Coasts or Norths. And not cos North beat Richmond. I am bearish wrt Freo and Hawks. always thought they were too old. Adelaide could also surprise.

West Coast look the best ATM, so strong, fast and fluid. Priddis was scarcely missed, Schuey and Co. were so good. Freo just can't kill off a game, they need to be more ruthless. Sydney did throw the kitchen sink at them though and could have won if Franklin was fit. Their midfield is as good as any when they're on.

Cheers BC. All good. Kinda glad i was kept away from the tigers losing, i just don't know what the problem is. Who does? They've proven this year that on their night they can get it done against well rated opposition like freo and the hawks, but they seem to have trouble with the games they're expected to win.

Will they persist with Hardwick you think?

imo, stability is more important than winning a final. dont pull the trigger on the coach. Benny Gale went thru the dark times. So he knows what is required, and can keep the back office operating well. I think he went to Mallesons which with Freehills was the top white shoe firm in the country, before he went over to the PA. I would not have minded if he headed the AFL as their CEO instead of Gillon.

and we have a female president, she is from America, been here close to two decades, also a lawyer, dont like lawyers much meself, too many in my family... but she offers a sobering POV as chairwomen/president who will not be swayed by an emotionally pavlovian rash reaction guillotine on anyone. I think Hardwick would be safe even with one more finals loss next year. But not losing in one finals series, then in 2017, losing again, he would be shown the door. I think he would walk willingly then tho, knowing it was his time. So I would give him one more loss again next year, because, stability is more important than a flag if the counter factual is the last 3 decades since 1980

If history is anything to go by a west coast GF win will make living in WA unbearable for the next 10-15 years.

See my avatar for my "the morning after west coast GF win" face.

they will probably not screw the pooch and allow half their team to become walking talking recreational pharmeceutical addicts, and backyard boffin addicts...

thing is, when you have climbed to the top of the mtn, on the MCG, even doing a line of blow off the mons of the hottest model in town, it wont make your life fulfilled, they will keep on seeking the higher, the extra, the next high, so it is unerstandable in the one team town(pre Freo, even with Freo) that Cousins and Kerr get enabled by all and sundry and the cops give them a wide berth to wreak absolute havoc

the problem isn't the team (these days), it's the fans BC

the fans. full of smug entitlement and of course will have "forever" bragging rights over freo supporters

it's them who I really feel for, they could win 2 premierships on the one day but if a WCE player sneezes it will still push them off the front page

and Saffa fans too? Perth, South Africans, and more South Africans.

Tough luck for the Dockers. Ross Lyon just can't catch a break in finals.

This week's GF is really hard to predict. I favour West Coast slightly due to their week off in week two; might just run over the top of Hawthorn in the second half.

Try being a New South Welshman in QLD

I lived in Perth for two years until the end of last year and can tell you that WA has nothing on Queerlanders when it comes to living vicariously through their football teams!
