Where exactly is the peak in that?

hrotha said:Meh, the Tour-Vuelta Double thing from September 2013 will probably become the We'll See I'm Focused on the Tour in July 2014 and the I'm Really Tired Right Now in August 2014.
Red Rick said:He'll be a 9time GT winner this time next year
Contador just has to sign his name to justify his presence at the Tour or else 194 other riders would have to explain why they even bother entering.Contadoraus Schlecks said:He has to get some wins against Froome prior to Tour in order to justify his presence. He also needs it for his confidence. I think it was airstream who suggested that Sky had made it a goal not to allow Contador to beat Froome in any prep stage race this year. If true, it worked.
McLovin said:So he will win Giro, Tour of California (same period, I know, but one it's by day and one by night), Tour and Vuelta next year? Now that's a man!

I get it. But you know he has to ride the Tour. Both for Saxo and for his own head. I did not really understand what his prep was about this year. We clearly saw it did not bear results, however. It will be interesting to see what he will change next year. For the moral there is nothing like winning, so I agree with you that he need a few victories over Froome to boost his confidence.Contadoraus Schlecks said:Apologies, I should have been clearer. I meant in order to justify his presence in his own mind. I was getting at the fact that at present he knows that Froome is superior and that he will need to beat him before the Tour. I see little point in Contador getting whipped in the Tour then having fatigue for the Vuelta, where he could still potentially win Giro and Vuelta next season.

webvan said:Guess he was encouraged by Valverde and Purito's Vuelta results who were a lot closer (time wise) than Froome in 2012...
The Hitch said:Well duh, winning every race you enter is by definition - not allowing anyone else to beat you.
Contadoraus Schlecks said:Yeah but that mantra looked to include stages as well. They would let him have nothing at all
