Niko in there? Man, i would love if he was doing a blog for the ii now.

How.did niko get in there though. Was it contadors decision?

Purito wasn't allowed in it, that's what you get for always outsprinting Contador lol.

These guys btw don't only race aggresive but they seem so much fun.

he is not quite there. If he was he would attack ealier and be able to keep the pace up. He lacks stamina. Maybe it can still come but time is running out. He needs to attack Purito earlier. With a few KMs to go Purito can push that last sprint in and close the gap. Bertie would need to go with 5-7 km. But I think he lacks the stamina for that

Yeah this. A week ago there was still plenty of time left. Not anymore.

The only guy that will crack Alberto, is Alberto. He will try to crack them all so hard he may blow himself up...only way I see him cracking very hard.

And that might very well happen. Esp if Purito is still in the lead before the last big mountain stage, the day before Madrid

He still has 3 chances, you can even say 4 if you count fuente de.

He only needs 1 day where he's awesome. Contador still has a lot of faith, is it that hard to trust a guy who won so many GT's?;)

What I do like about Berti in this race is that usually he makes it look so easy, like he doesnt even have to give 100%. But this time u can see that he goes beyond his limit to try to make the difference.

The thing is he just always says the standard things "my legs felt good" "I would have liked to win but I'm happy anyway" "_____ is very strong" etc. You never know if he really feels that way.

Is it this "it makes him a bit more human" talk again?

Ye in some way (but not in any way clinic related), but it also has to do with will and determination. I like to see riders go beyond their limit fueled on will alone.

That said I would like to see him at 100% on just one MTF in this race :D

Maybe he can crack Purito on stage 20 where they go beyond 2000 meter altitude.

If he's still behind at that point he should attack from further out, say 5-6 km, I mean that's his last chance.

Indeed. And normally a Contador on 100% does that most often. Hopedully he will attack earlier aldry tomorrow.

Btw the Fuente stage might be acually be a stage where Purito can be gapped if there wear out most of his helpers.

I think he won't. Too much of a risk.

That climb isn't that hard now is it?

But that is what makes him so special!!! He will sacrifice a podium, turn himself inside out and flog himself past his limits before ever giving up. Win or lose he will always go for the win; it's who he is and it's why I like him so much :)

It's why I love him too but also what I don't like about him as in I don't want him to fail and finishing 4th or 5th is an even bigger failure than finishing 2nd.

LaFlo I choose to look at it like this:

I'd rather see him true to his Winners nature and finish 10th then play it safe! If he doesn't win it isn't the end of the world and he will have set his body up for the rest of the season and for next year. Giving All you have; Not playing it safe is a greater testament to courage then finishing second safely. Some adversity cannot be overcome it is the Trying to overcome it that makes you stronger. There is no shame in losing as long as you have left all you have on the road; Alberto will.

Win or lose any particular race Alberto is a Winner!

At least finishing second shows you were kinda great. 10th is for the Mollemas and Talanskys of this world, it's not where a champion like Alberto should be.

As in: not hard enough to make a difference.

Depends on the number of helpers there are left. I still remember Basso smoking Simoni on a easy climb (easy as in 3-4%)

I prefer him to finish 5th but riding for the win than riding defensively to secure 2nd. 2nd means nothing for a guy like Berti. And thats what I like about him
