“Estoy satisfecho por cómo estoy. Mucha gente ve que falta un punto con respecto al año pasado, pero la preparación del año pasado era completamente diferente a la de este, que vamos retrasados a todos los niveles. De momento va todo perfecto”

He probably read this thread

Alberto says he felt pretty bad :(

:(

Clearly hurt his back. Hope it won't stop him training properly. But hopefully, all will be well.

What happened regarding Tinkoff's announcement? OR is that coming?

Always secretly pleased if AC can't win that Vvde manages to snatch a stage win. Wish he'd won the GC, actually. Well, since AC didn't, obviously.

well if he says so.. who are we to argue that?

Tinkoff-Saxo finished Catalunya with two riders. Paulinho and Valgren abandoned today.

"With six out of eight riders falling ill from a stomach influenza during the course of the race and having to abandon altogether, it’s safe to say that Catalunya proved a challenge for Tinkoff-Saxo. Despite the depleted team, team sports director Steven de Jongh underlines that the remaining riders fought hard.

“Once again the remaining teammates of Alberto did their very best and Kiserlovski and Valgren proved important today, as Paulinho was also ill today. Despite taking all measures, such as eating separately, he was also feeling bad, when we started this morning”, says Steven de Jongh, who adds that it was difficult to prevent Valverde from taking bonus seconds on the last stage in Barcelona."

That's some shitty luck :(

“This was the toughest stage of the Volta a Catalunya because of the injuries I sustained in yesterday's crash. The only injury that worries me a little bit right now is in my back. I think that when I crashed yesterday a nerve must have been affected. I felt a sensation of intense heat in my back and I noticed it a bit today going over speed bumps”, says Alberto Contador, who remains confident in his preparations ahead of Giro d’Italia.

Crap hope he heals quickly and well......

Amazing he didn't get the stomach bug, hopefully it doesn't still show up.

And we still have Oleg's announcement to look forward to today, Not. The only Good news would be that he sold the team back to Bjarne.

It's not that surprisingly, really. They're all in close quarters a lot of the time. Though the timing is interesting, let's say.

Exactly. Just have faith in him and I'm sure will go strong in May , like last year.

Understandable after that bad crash, what is his next race?
Giro :)
Can't wait for Pais Vasco and the Oleg avatar that you will wear :D :p

I will wear it with pride. Still think he should defend his title.

I missed it. Why do you have to wear an Oleg avatar?

I thought Alberto would ride Tirreno, Catalunya and Pais Vasco. Netserk thought he would only ride 1 or 2 of those races so he insisted on doing an avatar bet on whether or not Contador would ride Pais Vasco. Pretty silly as that was after a member confirmed Alberto's schedule was Andalucia, Tirreno and Catalunya and then Il Giro.

I find the interview of Alberto in English about his shape and performances. From Fb

“Despite the crash, I’m happy with my performance and my current form. A lot of people might compare my performance with that of last year but they are two completely different years. Last year my main goal was the Tour and the first peak in my performance took place in spring. This year this peak has to take place later. I now have to fully recover from my injuries and focus on the Giro d’Italia, which is what obsesses me right now and what I think about every day”, adds the team captain.

So keep calm my friends and have faith in him :)

Onto the Giro, hopefully nothing bad happens by then, but you never know with Alberto, it probably would be too easy if he doesn't crash or something.
