Yes he does, but if I were him, I would be happy to :p nice bank account, and doing what he love to do, deserves a smile for sure.

He says hes a pure climber, so I doubt about the TT skills. Looking forward to seeing him as well, he says he is in great form and want to pay the team back asap, lets see what he got under the hood.

If Beltran develops like most of the young riders of Saxo, except Majka, I don't see him doing much. Guys like Boaro, Kump, McCarthy don't seem to be going too well...

Juul Jensen, however, did amazing in Strade. He might develop into something good.

From what I understand then McCarthy is doing very well, its not everybody who is supposed to be stars, some have to carry the water and some do that better than others, McCarthy should do an excellent job for the team. And he´s still young, he and others have time to develop, it´s a bit to early to judge in my opinion. Just watch a guy like Mørkøv, he have never been the obvious talent, but hard, determined and consistent work with an unique professional approach to his sport have taken him to a new level.

A talent like McCarthy can take it even further, just give him a few more years.

That was one of the reasons why I didn't mention him ;)

Did you see it in any race or just wishful thinking? Anyway, of course he's still young but look at guys like Villela, Formolo, Hofland, Barguil, Dillier, etc... they all showed something in their first seasons. Maybe it's a matter of having less talent, less opportunities or simply later development but the truth is that Saxo doesn't strike me as a good team for a young promising rider.

How many promising young riders have they had since Andy and Goss? Fuglsang did quite well, but was already good when he joined. CAS did quite well the first couple of seasons, but is now just decent. Matti did very well until his transfer to Rabo and his injuries. Porte did great, then left for Sky. Majka have developed steadily over the years. Boaro, well I just don't think he was that big of a talent to begin with, I think he is where you would expect him to be. The likes of Kump, Hansen, McCarthy, Rovny and Valgren are too early to judge imho.

Riis just seldom signs the big obvious talents.

Riis has, - a what you can say, is a conservative approach to talent work, not that I always agree with it, but on the other hand he makes sure they develop slowly and steady, of course you can debate which is the best way, but at least he doesnt break young talents their first year/s.

But I agree, it sometimes can seems it takes a bit to long time for them to shine, when and if.

Porte is ready and confident to come for the win at TA. For contador, it's one thing to loose from Froome. But loosing from Porte? Ouch.. that's probably hard to swallow. So should be interesting to see how Contador fares in his first major goal. There's no hiding. Let the battle begin. And I hope Tinkoff boys won't bleed so much time on TTT. Otherwise Richie will be dancing on the top of Contador's head.

I don't know how much dancing Porte should do if he best Contador. Just based upon sheer activity, Porte should be further along in his preparations that Contador. He's had 12 race days (1742.3 KM) compared to Contador's 5 (689.90). That's not everything, but it certainly will be a factor coming into tomorrow's race (IMO).
