That would be my guess too. If he ended up podium TDF, he will for sure do Vuelta. If he wins it, he most likely won't do Vuelta. Unless, if Oleg doesn't agree :D

Of course he'll do la Vuelta. He's said it numerous times this year and he never even gave the impression that his participation depends on his result at the Tour.

Contador never once wins Dauphene. Whether that was on purpose or not, doesn't matter. What matter is I think, winning Dauphene isn't really his major objective (he'll take if it comes his way). I would think winning a stage especially the mountain top finish is most important goal because it helps giving him an indication how he fares against Froome. I don't know what to expect for this Dauphene. His DS comment on TS website doesn't really sound like a confidence. It's more like downplay and see day by day kinda approach. So it's hard to tell what contador form looks like actually. On the other hand, Froome seems to be proclaiming that he is back better than last year. So I'm anxious.
There probably used to be clinic related reasons for this. Anyway, perhaps this have now changed. I certainly hope Contador can beat Froome. Contador is much easier to chear for.But I don't believe it will happen. Not now, and not in the tour. My hopes for someone to beat Froome in July, is for Horner to show up in Vuelta shape:D:D

Well it's been the plan since September last year. I think he wants another try at a GT double. Maybe to prepare for Giro-Tour next year?

Wow thats really bold from you,but I really like your prediction:):)

If Nibali couldn't do it, that being the giro/vuelta double (and we know how well he rode last year) - no chance Contador can do the TdF/Vuelta double especially with the narrower timeframe between the two races.

It would be a huge mental blow for Froome if Contador would beat him uphill I think. And it would give Alberto a lot of confidence.

I agree with this also. It's important that Contador doesn't get blown away by an explosive Froome attack like he did in this race last year. He needs to be competitive for his mental confidence going into July.

Looking forward to the Dauphne. Should be quite interesting. Especially the final two stages.

Just a reminder of the sort of pattern Contador is following this year.
Here is what he has done:
Algarve 2nd Overall
Tirreno 1st " "
Catalunya 2 " "
Pais Vasco 1 " "

The pattern is pretty simple. He will place 2nd overall at the CD and he will win the TdF!

I love this analysis.:):):)
i can live with a 2nd in Daphine if he wins TdF.

btw, his bib no is 21. thts a good sign.

I think he does a good ITT. Second and only 8s. Froome is too superior and berto can only limit losses and today he.does it well for me.

now , we look forward last km of tomorrow MTF :)

Judging from todays prologue, Contador's legs looks quite muscular. How is his weight compared to previous seasons? Looked like he packs more punch.

Contador did a good ITT, considered how bad his ITT in recent years. He lost (is that 12 seconds? too lazy to search) last year hilly TDF, now in Dauphene he lost 8 secs (not TDF yet). That means he can improve. So not bad in my opinion. I don't believe Contador's ITT can change over night either. (ah please don't bring the previous years because it's a moot point for argument). To expect contador to win ITT over Froome, it's just unrealistic. The mountain would be interesting. At least, he did what he said so far, he'll give Froome the run for his money.

Hmmm didn't see that.

On pictures lately his legs looked really slim.
