We can't know what Alberto would have done in this Tour, but I do know, he would have out climbed Majka by more than 10". Whether that would have been enough to distance Nibali, is a different question, but I'd like to think we have some since where things stand.... No disrespect to Nibbles (I thought he would put time into the field today, because that's just the kind of rider he is), but he's never really shown an ability to climb with the Froome and Contador's of the world in the long climbs (perhaps that's changed, but somehow I doubt it without . . .)

Just my opinon...

i almost back you there. Nibali was climbing far better than Valverde/Pinot. But the move was started by Pinot, not Nibbles. Valverde, we know, is perpetual wheelsucker. Sad to see JRod drop off.
But with the given field, i dont think Nibbles is actually climbing that well. I mean, wiggins dropped him in 2012. The Sky train never exerted anything. Rogers, Majka and Roche were quite comfortable in the early half of the final climb.

I would say tht if AC was still around, then the Pinot attack would have taken nibbles, valv, majka and AC along. Majka would up the pace and make others really uncomfortable. then the attack from AC would have distanced everyone. even if the attack took place at 5km to go banner, he would have comfortably made 40-50 sec to the rest.

Contador shouldn't be the primary commentator who entertains you for 3 hours during a flat stage. He should rather be the second commentator who can tell you how it is for a rider and can comment about the riders themselves

Yep, exactly that. I don't think anyone expects him to become a cycling commentator when his career is over.

Would be cool if one of the Saxo guys could win :)

It's soooo hard to watch this year's TdF knowing full well Alberto would've decimated this year's top contenders (or what's left).

I get the sense he would've attacked every day...
