I've always appreciated Contador's ability on the road as a team leader. He knows how to use his strengths. Tactically, I think he's pretty astute. Reads the road and his rivals well

And also He knows how to gain the hearts of the other riders in his team... will never forget when last year He went to the front of the peloton and worked as a domestique for Michael. but I thing that I never liked was the bromance with AS... but now I like how he sees Froome as an enemy and he goes all in against him.

I agree. Never got the Schleck love on any level. I don't wish the guy ill, but I don't miss him at all.

Perhaps it's just good PR and my own personal bias, but it always appears TS is a relatively warm environment. Other teams, not so much.

BTW... besides Basso and Kiserlovski... is there any other climber being signed for the team?

Edward Beltran. He is supposed to be a specialist for long climb. They signed him this year. But he seems not ready yet for prime time. Maybe next year after they told him to ride a lot in the winter :D

There are no points to be scored at the Worlds.

It's absolutely possible to remain #1 without riding Beijing. He would need to beat Valverde at Lombardia or finish 1 spot behind him.

And he does want to top the WT, else he wouldn't be going to Beijing.

it sounded from his interview.. he is hoping to end his season at Lombardia. If he rides beijing.. he'd better eat fish or chicken!! Beijing scares me if TS send contador there.

True they signed that colombian not too long ago. I still think that TS should have a better team uncle oleg has plenty of money haha

sorry. got confused with CQ point system.

I dont know abt how he will do in Lombardia. i think his best is 9th or something. Also, he cant outsprint valverde. so if they reach as a group, i dont think he can retain WT.

I liked about his comments about beating Froome's training numbers. I mean, that's the whole purpose of poaching Sky's coach. unless CF learns to ride a cycle like humans do, i think he can never beat AC in anything other than TT (if he is lucky :)). The next Tour is going to be interesting; a 3-way fight between AC, CF & NQ

Well if it all depends on Kreuziger I guess. If he doesnt get a ban they have a super strong GT team - and even without him its still verry good.

With Sagan the cobble team is ofcourse also much stronger but I still think they would do with one more strong cobble-ride. Breschel and Bennati are good but Breschel is mostly injured, so they should have one more.

Yes, if he needs more points to secure #1 on the WT ranking he'll go to Beijing
I dont like it :(

Haha, he knew Froome's numbers and could top them. Nice to have an ex Sky coach around :)

“(I had) the belief that if he could do it (make the Vuelta) then so could I,” explained Contador. “I saw the training data with the coach that had worked with them [Sky] and that knew the times that they had done. We compared than and sometimes they were better. That gives you confidence, but he is a very hard racer.”

The Tinkoff-Saxo man was generous in his praise of this year’s winner, Vincenzo Nibali, but expressed frustration that he was denied the chance to test the Sicilian’s credentials in the mountains.

“At the Tour he was the best, he was very strong, although I wasn’t as good in the Vuelta as I was in France, where I had the best level of my life. I was anxious to get to the mountains but I fell before them,” Contador said.

There you go
:)

Also the italians love him... is so awesome how it looks almost like Spain... He has plenty of support there...

BTW He always talk really good about Nibali, He respects him a lot but He is sure that he is better than him and knows that his main bump on the road is Froome and only focus in beating him.

This may change soon though. I'm stoked for 2015, but disappointed I relocated from Richmond two years too soon.

AC's relationship with the peloton

How do you think AC's relationship with the other riders is? He didn't seem to be getting on with Valverde, Rodriguez or Aru in the Vuelta.

I was just interested if there is history behind it or anyone knows if he did something to annoy those riders in this race - besides winning......

Contador is/was Aru's favorite rider, the one he admired and enjoyed watching the most. I don't think they have any type of off the bike relationship. Regarding Valverde and Purito, I imagine when on the bike they are cut throat and competitive. Off the bike or in more casual moments they appear to get along well but this is just discerned from photo's and articles that I've read so ultimately, who knows the real truth?:)

Dont think he has any problems with Aru and overall he is alledgely a well-liked character. But its also well-known (not at least as depicted by The Secret Pro) that Contador and Valverde dont have the best of relationships. However, I think regarding JRod they dont have any personal problems at all, but are just fierce proffesional rivals (JRod was the first to salute the De Fuente stage and said something along with it "being a priviledge to be part of such a historic event eventhough he was the loser").

Who likes Valverde as a person? A guy who prefers to lose a podium place in favor of making Contador lose a race. It has to be the main reason Alberto declined to be at the Worlds.

If you see the video that AS posted in youtube when the journalists asked him for Purito or Bala he answer very normal and said that it may looks that on the road they hate each other but outside of it they have a good relationship. He didnt say that they are friends but that they have a good relationship. I think that he has a better relationship with Purito than with Valverde. I still remember that he declined singing with Caisse D'Epargne and one of the reasons was maybe Valverde.

If the rider doesn't have a spark of GOD's talent like Alberto (which Nibali doesn't have too, cineteq), that's not the reason to call him a bad bike racer. Valverde has so many limitations that it seems like he always gets maximum of what he is physically able to. Fantastic rider.

I have always had the impression Vvde and AC tolerate one another but there's a little bad blood. AC and Rodriguez seem like friendly, respectful rivals but not best buddies off the bike or anything.

Yeh that's my impression too. I've seen Alberto and Piti chat before the start and after the finish of a race so it's not like they hate each other.
