He knows what Tinkoff can be like, yet signed for another year just a week ago.

Hard to feel sad when it was his choice.

Very True, I was actually certain he was gonna leave after this year.

Most likely he stayed because of Bjarne. They seemed to have wonderful relationship.......

This exactly!!! The only thing keeping Alberto on the team was Bjarne.

That and his mates of course!

Majka was AWAYS not riding the Giro. He's supposed to be Contador's top lieutenant at the Tour, which he mentions in the article. Lots of folks trolling around these parts recently....

Contador: Riis is very important to me

What he says is:

"I only know what they said in the pressconference. I have no further comments. But Riis is very important for my career."

Nice response. Makes his feelings known without saying anything. Tinkoff really has shot himself in the foot.

But I don't see AC giving up on his aspirations, though.

I hope this year will be the same as 2011. I really don't care that much if he wins the tour, i just want him to race it like in 2011.

I still think to this day that in that race we saw the true Contador. That's the only time we saw him (actually also in PN '09 but to less extent).

I want to see that guy again. Just one more time, that's all i want as his fan.

So what you wanna see, is Contador crashing and struggling against fresher wheelsucking rivals who get what was supposed to be his win, especially on Alpe d'huez?

Losing the double on top of that.

What a joke. I want to see 09' / 14' Contador at the Tour, flying up the climbs and dominating the *** out of anyone.

I'd like to see the absolute best Contador at the Tour and see where he's at against the others who all consider the Tour their top priority, hence will hopefully be at their best at it.

It would be a shame if we never see that duel. *** those crashes at the 2014 Tour.

“With the advantage that they have in the GC it will probably be very difficult and hard to fight for the overall win from behind,” Contador said. “In any case, Catalunya is my last race before the Giro so I want to test myself before leaving the race. We will try to use any possibility to take time in the GC, maybe tomorrow or maybe to La Molina on stage 4. It is not the best climb but for sure we will try something.”

Hopefully we'll get some good AC action inspite of the "easier" parcours.

at least he still has a fighting spirit. This is his last race before the giro. God knows, maybe he'll be in this situation in the Giro. So might as well do the simulation as if this is the Giro.

Btw, Oleg does know how to ruin the team morale. After all this isn't banking employee that he runs. It's cycling, where winning depends on so many factor. Riders can be so fit, then they crashed or way too far back for whatever reason. There isn't a sure thing in cycling. So who is he going to hire? I think Roche probably smiling ear to ear that he got out from TS. If TS is a company, they might be high profile company but I won't work in that kind of company because the expectation way too high. I have never heard any cycling team have this kind of high expectation that the owner decides to fire the team manager. Gilbert, Porte, Thor, Farrar and many other high profile athlete are probably lucky with their team since when they didn't perform due to whatever reason, no one chasing them with a dagger like Oleg does. It's so sad, especially since everyone in the team start to gel with each other after the kili expedition.

TS is going down hill, not because of the team members, but because of how Oleg runs his team. I bet no one wants to sign with this team in the future. I know I wouldn't. Not with this kind of environment.

Don't forget that Riis was very supportive of contador during his ban. I read somewhere that Riis told Hernandez to accompany contador during that hard time to make sure he didn't loose his motivation. So it's natural that Contador felt that Riis has his back when he was down. And Riis also had the Saxo Bank (the sponsor at that time) to have faith in Contador. I remembered seeing contador poster w/ saxo bank.. something about conquering challenges or something. I can't find the link to that. It's been long time.

I think he was quite good today. The climb just wasn't that demanding, but he put in a few good attacks.

Tomorrow should be interesting. But passing Rolland in GC will be really difficult.

It is impossible ;) and even then Uran, Martin, Porte etc will probably finish ahead of him on La Molina. Sucks for me for CQ game reasons but I'm happy with the form he's showing :)

Whats up with his team? Majka should've been with him on the last climb. Maybe do an attack, then AC counter.

Still obvious that he isn't as good as last year this time around, which is a good sign for the Giro. I'm not sure how much his contenders can improve, espacially Porte. Aru lacks some racing, he'll be a little better.

If Contador, Valverde and Porte are attacking like mad men on La Molina, surely guys like Martin will finish behind them. He even dropped today a couple of times when the heat was on.

But i reckon winning this Volta would be a true miracle. But if one cyclist can do miracles ... ;)

Majka was terrible in Paris-Nice too so I don't know why you expected him to be up there today.

One thing is certain we can always rely on Alberto to light up a race :). Let's see what they have let in the tank tomorrow.

Yeah i know, but i thought that was more lack of motivation after he crashed and had a puncture on the first mountain stage.

"One is still repeatedly, gleefully retold by members of Saxo Bank’s 2010 Tour de Suisse team: of a rider dropping back to the team car for instructions midway through one key stage, only to find that Riis’s ears were plugged with headphones, and his eyes were glued to his laptop. Spooling across the screen were not live pictures of the race but scenes from the hit American drama, The West Wing."

http://www.cyclingnews.com/features/tin ... r-struggle

Is Riis watching "House of Cards" when Contodar fell his ass off the bike in the Tour? LMAF.
