The only serious adversaries missing from the Giro are Froome and Quintana[/b] unless you think Pinot or Bardet could win the Giro and I don't. Many people are counting on Porte having a bad day but if he doesn't he is in the race. Uran has finished second in the last two Giros and is a better TT rider now. Aru is the one who's form is a bit of a mystery. Just like the Tour there are only three or four possible winners unless something unusual happens due to a crash or something or illness. Yes Contador deserves to be favourite but the Giro and Vuelta are much different races and the Vuelta comes at the end of the season where you can start it and do well without much racing as many other riders who have ridden more races are starting to go backwards in form. Contador was in great form before last year's Tour and there was a lot of conflicting info about his leg injury. The break he had before the Vuelta did not affect him much as he was ready for the Tour anyway.

Nibali?

I agree that Porte and Uran have a chance against Contador. My gut feeling is that it's a year too soon for Aru.

Pretty perfect start for AC yesterday. Laughing a little at all the he was or wasn't dropped conjecture :p

I'm actually a little torn with this race. Alberto is my favourite rider, but I also wouldn't mind seeing a second Aussie crack it for a GT.

Either or Either :D

Re: Re:

so all this talk about contador didn't look good is non sense. It was nice if they did indeed plan to put Basso in Pink. Contador said that they got to that fast.. if that's true, no wonder when Basso exploded just as Contador finished his pull, it would be a monstrous effort for him to catch the yellow fluo express train :D Btw, the only Russian finished with the rest 5. So paulinho, tosato and basso dropped.

It is generally known as "wishful thinking". Therefore these comments (from Ryo et al) are best possible news.

Sorry I forgot Nibali. I must have been thinking pre the Astana decision not post.

Forget the media, Alberto is going to spend all his free time having to take photos with Oleg.

Very good work also today by the squad. Maybe a little too

Dunno, better to stay at the front and burn some matches, than risk a crash (hate them :( )

Here's one funny close up for Fleur :p

so what did all of them say? impossible? that's the only word I can recognize.. lol.. I don't know italian or french or spanish..

Roughly this. Sorry if I'm completely off.

Nocentini: From a champion such as him, you have to expect it all. Although I think that the double will be very hard. (can't understand) I hope that Pozzo wins.

Montaguti: (something imperceptible) It's already very difficult to win Il Giro, so trying to win the Tour after, impossible.

Mori: ...Alberto, I think, is one of the last true champions, so there's that possibility.

Pellizotti: We have seen in these last years that it is very difficult, not to say impossible, but he is a great champion, and set as his objective the Giro-Tour double, and I trust in his will(?).

Chava: I do think it is possible. He set the bar quite high, but a rider such as him has the ability to surpass it.

Antón: If there's anyone who can do it, it's Alberto.

Contador climbed the last pass of the day sat on the saddle most of the time, doing the pantani climbing position from time to time. Strange behaviour. Can't wait for wednesday, I'm still not 100% confident about his current form. Need confirmation.

He's gonna start doing a combination of seated Froome attacks and Pantani attacks to destroy the field. He will save his own superior trademarked AC style of mountain climbing for the Tour.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed. He was spinning that very low gear, sat all the time... it reminded me of Port de Paillères 13' to be fair. :(
Those signs are very important, remember the Tour 13' when he said he was already having bad sensations in Corsica, he was doing his head tilt and was not out of the saddle on those first few climbs of the Tour.

He really looked like Froome Today. But given that it's not his usual style, it's a bit worrying.
