The bookmakers don't know the most about cycling at all, they just use mainstream cycling media as their guide, how else can real cycling fans win so much money by betting

And there's just no chance that Contador is actually a favorite over Froome when they all agree that Froome is in the 2.1-2.5 range and Contador is in the 4.5-5.5 range.

Obviously it's gonna be that way, Contador hasn't won the Tour in 5 years . But those who followed his career know the reasons behind it.
Stupid bookmakers who don't follow his career

Why the hell would we have to mention 3 of Contador's wins 8 years ago (although it is a nice reminder of how legendary and how far ahead of Froome he is) when he won 2 GTs in the last 2 years which by the way is more than Froome
Try asking Contador on Twitter if he would trade his 3 GT victories since his return for Froome's 2 Tour victories :)
He would say NO because he cherishes his victories and doesn't dwell in negative thoughts about the races he didn't win because he is a CHAMPION. :)

YeP they're stupid, <edited by mods>.

He crashed out in 14' while being in his best form, had the Giro in his legs in 11' and 15'. You know, those who are not dumb, know that Contador can match and beat Froome on equal ground.

You just can't discuss without dropping personal insults, can you?

I don't know why I keep wasting time on this topic. I think I'll drop into another topic instead of this parallel universe of a topic in which Contador is still a better GT rider than Froome and in which Contador's fans gets personal once someone tries to open up their eyes to realities.

Sometimes bookmarkers are "stupid" as the market is stupid, e.g, the odds in last years Pais Vasco before final TT, Purito had 34 odds which was outrageous if you just check the profile of the tt for a few seconds, but the odds were horribly skewed towards Quintana, Henao and Yates, the odds for Henao and Yates was influenced by pointless Brit hype aswell.

Still, bookmarkers are one of the most reliable sources to check the odds, thats certain.

Unfortunately, you didn't manage that. Especially when you don't have any argument. Yeah, please leave. Try to convince other people that a 2 time GT winner is better than a 9 GT winner.

Yes I remember that one as I actually bet on Rodriguez @ 34.

It seems you are not aware of the word "opinion".
And yes no one is forcing you to participate in this topic, and honestly if you're just here to school us about "realities" you are more than welcome to leave. :)

Do you also think that Nibali is more likely to win the Tour than Froome?

I am, and I don't mind discussing the subject. I just don't like the personal insults.

This guy thinks his opinion is the reality and others live in a parallel world. Never seen that but there we go.

Listen, you're one of those biased cycling fans who think Contador is done and bla bla bla, and has declined. And have absolutely no idea of what he is able to do. Only watches the Tour and thinks the Tour hierarchy is truthful.

We'll talk more in July. You're in for a good time if Contador wins.

YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN IT IN THIS THREAD??????????

Come on man, you do it all the time xD

I can't prove that Froome can do the double. I can only speculate - just like you. Once again, I think that Froome is more likely to do the double than Contador for the reasons I've already mentioned, but can repeat here:

1) Contador is declining and has attempted and failed a double twice.
2) Froome is a better GT rider and could still be improving.

As I've also said, I can understand why this is debatable, and I can understand why some would back Contador for the double over Froome - but I'm of the opposite opinion. The one thing I can't understand is why some can say that Contador is as good a GT rider as Froome is (at the moment - I don't care if Contador won 3 GT's 8 years ago). If you really think that, you should go bet some money on it as you have a very different opinion than the people in the cycling business that know the most about cycling: the bookmakers.

I think your reasoning is sound. Given two riders of relatively equal ability for this task, I would take the younger rider in the middle of his prime every day of the week, if for no other reason that he will have more opportunities. I would also take Nairo before Contador for the same reason.

I'm stating facts, not using bookmakers and ignoring circumstances.

I don't think Hugo is a July fan but this is just a useless discussion as no one will ever be convinced by the other side's arguments. I've never seen someone say "oh you're right, I saw it all wrong, Froome is indeed a better rider than Contador" (or the other way around)

As mentioned, I'm a big fan of Contador and I will be happy if he wins in July, so yeah, I will indeed be in for a good time then. But you're right: I do think that he has declined.

Oh by the way, you never answered my question?

Well, I'll be happy to admit that I was wrong if that indeed is the case :)

so reasonable and impartial bookmakers who take direct financial risks know cycling worse than biased like hell fans? :)
