Peter Cossins sees Alberto continuing for possibly 3 more years, says he sounds nothing like a rider who is planning on one last hurrah or the last big one before a final farewell Giro/Vuelta in 2018.
Who is Peter Cossins?
I really don't see him continuing till 2020

He and Richard Moore (of Slaying the Badger, Searching for Robert Millar fame) and Lionel Birnie host that cycling podcast that's beeen coming out every week for the last 5 years. It's one of the better ones with interviews and such, and reliable info. They sat in with Contador & De Jongh during the Dauphine
Ah, 'kay, thanks :)

# Rider Name (Country) Team
André Cardoso (Por)
Alberto Contador (Spa)
John Degenkolb (Ger)

Bauke Mollema (Ned)

I think that's just what's most likely to them and not confirmed in any way

Interview with Alain Gallopin:
http://www.velo-club.net/post/interview-alain-gallopin-confiance-en-alberto-contador

-What is the team's priority, all for Alberto or will Degenkolb get 1 or 2 helpers as well?

-We haven't made the final decision on the team yet, but what is clear is that the priority as it stands right now, is the GC with Contador.

-Do you have some names of riders who are sure to ride the Tour?

-It's easy to give a list of 5 or 6 names, I can tell you Contador, Mollema, Felline, Pantano will be the core of our team, for the rest we'll have a meeting on Tuesday.

Boo - Mollema :(

Someone should get AG the latest betting odds. Why put everything on a 1 in 15 chance of victory? Surely they can't know better than the betting public can they??? :p ;)

Thats just stupid. Contador is a dangerous outsider, hence the odds, hence the support. Really dno what you are on about. ;)

Gogl will be in the team for sure. That leaves 1 place up for grabs - between De Kort, Brandle and Irizar I guess.

Probably 1 of Cardoso or Zubeldia will be left at home in favor of another rouleur.

Gallopin didn't actually say that, though. Pornstache was never going to be the team's priority at the start of the race.

He basically just sidestepped the question re: Degenkolb and his possible 1 or 2 doms. A "no comment" would have told us just as much.

*sad trombone sound* my comment was a joke mocking the earlier "debate" surrounding the team.

What do you think about Gregory Rasts chances of being selected to the Tour team? There may be better alternatives if you're going to pick the 9 best riders, but he is a good road captain and has participated in the 3 last Tours with Trek.

Contador said in his interview (posted on youtube before the Dauphine) that he was training with four riders that would be in the Tour team - Cardoso, Felline, Brandle and Gogl. Degenkolb, Mollema and Pantano are also quite sure to go. That leaves only one spot left. Zubeldia or Irizar would be my bet (could also be De Kort but it seems there is no room for him...).

Yes, trolling. And that was a pretty bad attempt..

By this logic, the entire "debate" was a series of trolling remarks. Or do you really think teams should take into consideration the betting odds of a GC contenders likelihood of winning when formulating the Tour teams? I would presume not, but I won't speak for you

Great, now you are moving the goalposts. At no point did I say they should do that, obviously they shouldn't, it was merely used an argument of the likelyhood of Contador winning the GC vs Degenkolb winning a stage.

Not moving goal posts at all. In any event, this is what happens when there's no racing to discuss. 10 days and a wake up and all will be right with the world :D

I'd pick him... but with Irizar, De Kort and Brändle there is tough competition and seems there's only room for at most 2 of them.

I'm not sure that wasn't just a mistranslation... Trek said they were all on the longlist for Tour selection

Trek had a competition on twitter, those who chose the correct 9 riders could win a special TDF edition jersey. From the entry of one of the winners it seems likely this will be their team:

Contador
Degenkolb
Pantano
Felline
De Kort
Mollema
Cardoso
Gogl
Rast

It seems as a nice team not Sky good -obviously- but still good.
