Obviously I am not stalking Klodi well enough ;)

So long as the problem was that it was cold, rather than him having a cold, then it's not too bad.

RSNT website says he was ill, so may as well forget Giro.

Funny that he retired when in the break though. That's kind of a new one :D

Incredible performance yesterday in Vuelta a Castilla y Leon

He was in a good breakaway with
David Arroyo, Brice Feillu,Taaramae and othes...

In few minutes he was retired

From the RSNT website following Klodi's 56th placing in the prologue:

One of the late starters was Andreas Klöden. By the time he was on course the rain was really coming down. Despite the deteriorated conditions, Andreas gave a good ride when compared to the other favorites who started in the rain also. Hopefully good legs today translate into successful stages later in the race.

You know I am getting desperate when a top sixty result warrants recognition :D

We need to see a top ten result overall here, whether he goes in the Giro or Tour. Just show something in the mountains.

I will say this again, because of klödi`s current form, please, for the love of god, do NOT send him to the Giro. He can not be anywhere possibly near the form or shape needed to perform well in the mountains there.

In light of his current form, the schleck brothers form and their 2012 TT abilities, it would be absolute MADNESS to not let klödi train 100% for the Tour which suits him absolutely perfect this year.

In regards to the Tour of Romandie, i do not believe he will do particulary well, altough im hoping like you that he shows some improvements generally.

It is an exciting time for Klodists with Andreas showing decent legs on the admittedly minimal climbs of Romandie. To have 37 riders finish together on a stage with three category 1's is surprising. Either these climbs weren't hard enough or there were not enough attacks. Going from the reports, it seems to be more the former.

I am excited about the possible Giro participation of Kloden, though this is still not 100% confirmed.

But after a disappointing Classics campaign, in which the team lost Fabian Cancellara to injury at the Tour of Flanders, Bruyneel is determined to get his team back on track. If reports prove accurate, Schleck will join the likes of Andreas Kloden, Oliver Zaugg and Ben Hermans on the start line in Denmark on May 5.

A strong ride in tonights ITT will show that his form is coming together just at the right time, though having a Schleck in the team but no Cancellara doesn't bode well for the TTT :D

But it looks like the Giro isn't going to be just about Lampre, Liquigas and Rujano, which can only be good for the races interest.

Frank Schleck is certainly a contender for the victory. It will be interesting to see how he rides away from his brother.

I was kind of stoked when I read that Fuglsang was out of the Giro, thinking Kloden will captain the Giro. But now with Frank's participation, it's most likely Klodi will be playing the role of domestique.

I will still be happy with Andreas starting the race. I think that he can ride the Giro for 1-2 weeks and pull out if he cracks, and use that as good preparation for the Tour. But if he goes deep into week 3 than it's all for the Giro. Nobody will finish top 10 in that and then be strong in France. So the worst scenario would be a horrendous crack on one of the final couple of mountain stages. Frank can treat the race the same way. Give it his best, but if he doesn't have the legs than pull out early.

Unless sanity strikes Bruyneel and Klöden is number one at the TdF. Not that Andy has not deserved it, but the ITT ks, yes the ITT ks. TOOO much for the boy.:D

You don't let Andy know about it though, and tell him Andreas is there to give him a quick wheel change or give him his bike.;)

It's only just in excess of fourteen months old actually, but yes Klodi is getting a number of final chances. There was the 2011 Tour, then the Vuelta debacle, and now the Giro or Tour in 2012, whichever he enters.

Kloden's final bids for a GT top 10 will only end upon his retirement :D

I have a feeling he'll be on some senior tour in a decade or so and someone will resurrect this thread.

Not a great result for Klodi today. 25th; I was hoping for top 10 at least. But I suppose he was a bit ahead of Evans, and both riders are coming back from recent illness, so maybe that's not a bad measuring stick. Is it possible for him to improve enough in three weeks to be Giro competitive? Hard to tell, as most GC riders aren't in great form at present anyway.

5 more sleeps :)
