Agreed. He's young; hopefully he learns the right lessons from this.

Well composed, well said!airstream said:Great ride by Talansky. Such losses are a part of learning process. If one doesn't attack with today's result he will never learn how to attack properly.

I was wondering his tactics and thinking he should have held back but then I looked in the stage results and didn't see a single Garmin Sharp rider besides him... Is that possible that they all abandoned or do my eyes just suck? If he knew he had no team than his tactic is really admirable! Very impressive. If he had had one rider in the finale to chase Porte he would still have the jersey and a great shot at the overall.

Pentacycle said:He would've been a great last man today for Porte, who was in control and all the time, and didn't even suffer at all by the looks of his last km's. Talansky obviously wasted his energy too much, he just had to be in Porte's wheel when he went.(not saying he would've held it to the end) When you're leading the race with only a handful of seconds you shouldn't have to chase Menchov. He was rather ****ed about having made those mistakes, but that's why he's not the most liked guy out there.(at least from what his teammates have said)

Ripper said:While I'll pay respect for T-man's guts and he's a good rider to watch, I actually think he partly lost it today by attacking more than he needed to. Yes, he has panache, but he would likely be closer to winning if he had relaxed a bit more.
Ferminal said:If Talansky had a Hesjedal or Dan Martin they may have survived to the point where Porte attacked and been able to control the gap a bit better. I think Porte wins the stage under any scenario but there was a lot of dead weight in the chase and Talansky himself was still one of the strongest even though he spent more time on the front than any of them.
We've seen it with Froome too.greenedge said:Talansky did a very good ride today- Porte although he looked as if he was "struggling" (lol) according to Eurosport just had a bit more.
