Under the circumstances of having no team on the climb, I thought Talansky did very well. He still has a lot to learn obviously, but it was great to see he is not the kind of riders that will need to relay on his team to keep him in the lead. Porte would have probably won no matter what I think; but even without a team Talansky took command of the race, attacked multiple times, and lead a bunch. That really impressed me.

Hopefully it was. And don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with taking risks. I just think folks need to be realistic ... it's not like it was the 'fault' of the peripheral players or lack of a team.

Talasnky says he has no regrets on this race. He'll surely learn from this years race, and be back to try and up his second place next year. Now, on to Romandie.

He did what he needed to do, I'm pretty sure, now in hindsight watching Porte crushing everybody in the MTT, he realized he didn't make any mistakes.

sounds very possible, but they might start with three protected guys: Hesjedal (provided hes ok), Martin and Talansky.

Nice GC force really.

I would love to see Talansky take over for the tour's leadership at Garmin. I think Hesjedal and Martin have become "also rans" and will no longer be impacting any Grand Tours in the future.

"Also rans"?

Not sure what that means, but Martin is 26 and can potentially develop further. Hesjedal may be maxed out, but hes a very entertaining rider to watch.

I hope they will go in with some flexibility and try and make the race in the July.
