ASO wants Demate in green, thats the way i see it.
There was no wzy he could beat Sagan.
History taught us that French in general are masters at judging others without hearing their opinion.
Démare is a better sprinter than Sagan and would be in green regardless today with quite some margin. On this route, absolutely a good chance Démare would take green.
No way he would get the green. Absolutely. I even doubt he is a better sprinter. FDJ never did serious pulling in this tour so far.

No way hs would get the green. You made my day.
You are free to believe that, but if you chose to take a good look on the route and their respective flat-sprinting abilities, maybe it will get a bit more nuanced to you

Bouhanni also dpubts Demare is superior sprinter to himself and you MUST admit Sagan is a better sprinter then Bouhanni.
Would love to see the statistics of their head to head sprints.

Martin, if I were from Slovakia like you are, I'd be disappointed too. But it's not OK to start blaming everybody under the sun, come up with conspiracy theories...

Regardless of the decision, Demare had won the stage and got the jersey. Fact. ASO and UCI don't care if he keeps it. Last year, the ruling on the Ventoux didn't benefit a French rider. At Paris-Nice, who got DQed? Bardet.

If someone's to blame, it starts with Sagan, and some of the blame goes to Cavendish IMO. Cav' was reckless. Sagan was ruthless. He kept closing hat door. Did this warrant a DQ? IMO it doesn't. FWIW.

Again I understand your frustration. But I think that you are misguided.

From the guy that cut across 4 lines and back again:

"I just heard news that Sagan lost 80 points, the jury showed guts to sanction the world champion, today’s star of cycling. Now I’ve got a chance for green.“

...

Great result for Demare, and cements the fact he has really stepped up to be a world class sprinter this year. No longer is he just claiming European Tour victories against questionable opposition; he's now bossing WT sprints against the best riders in the world. Great to see - and especially good to see a sprinter with such top end speed who can ride classics and climb decently as well.

Of course he does have a chance now.

Don't blame him for Sagan's demise. Demare did nothing wrong, nthing that doesn't routinely happen in a sprint, he shot a small gap, seeing that Krystoff was closing the right side, no one fell..

You have watched many sprints, you're not new at this, so why this bad faith? Looking for someone to blame? Frankly, I don't understand.

Lol, Demare is not a better sprinter than Sagan. Maybe after he hung unto a motor-bike for 3 hours. Demare should have been banned already.

Frankly, I'm surprised with all the fuss. Do you remember any sprinter being DQ for what Démare did in a similar situation?

It's the inconsistency that's killing me. Like I said before I think the moves Demare did here today are worse than what Sagan did (if at least not the same) and then he applauds Sagan getting DQ'd despite being just as bad. I see no apology even to Bouhanni who's wheel he took out. Yea it's annoying to see that.

He is a faster bunch sprinter, yes. 2 out of 2 in the TdF. Clearly faster this Tour.

Not that I think it should be sanctioned, but Demare did clearly deviate from his line unnecessarily as he could easily have continued straight ahead when he launched his sprint. By the letter of the rules, he ought to have been relegated.

Demare always had a ton of power, he wasn't always the best att positioning himsself and now he has a really strong sprint train.

Straight ahead meant getting in the funnel that Krystoff was setting up, and either brake or end up like Cav. It was a tight squeeze, you can't blame him. It's a sprint. Pretty much every sprint has something like this happening.

Line deviation is illegal, according to rules when applied.

Sagan did nothing then different from Demare, but it just so happened Cavendish taking a big risk hit Sagan and then hit the barrier.

Time to paint lanes from 300 metres and a rider who leaves his lane is DQ'd!!!

Is that what we want? I dont. I think leave it to the sprinters to sprint. Crashes are inevitable and those caused on purpose need consequences but today was in my opinion not one of them.

But we are wasting our breath, UCI/ASO never mete out justice just self interest, whether paid or not.
