What it boils down to is newspaper companies want to sell newspapers and news companies want people to watch their news. Stories are stories and written through the eyes of someone with a vested interest. The French press is very French (and incredibly anti-American) so I ignore it.

Examples of them being inaccurate.

Let's stay on topic, please.

I would still like to know from lwebb what is the spin in the article? The article seems straight forward and on point with information.

oi mr mod alert your crew, i've now missed out on 7 pages of this thread (=280 replies) cause the first four were full of rex hunter/phantom menace/max power/arbiter/banprocycling/britishprocycling/unbanprocycling/someotheronesiveforgot

if you're not on here 24/7 it is impossible to keep up with what's going on. troller wins

i'd also like to repeat yet again. reporting seems to have no effect (however the cn staff are super quick to go edit a post if a nasty  word comes up or cn is questioned)

First, try using the ignore feature. It works quite well.

Second, it's not really my style to start deleting posts and banning members (I don't have the power to outright ban anyway). I tend to like to let things work themselves out on their own, as most of the time they do.

None the less, I do see your point, and plan to more strictly enforce what I said before.

I strongly suggest everyone stay on topic, or don't be surprised and come whining to me when your posts are removed and you get warning notifications in your in box.

That's a hopeless cause around here:rolleyes:

We'll soon have Flicker, Guilder, Speedway, The Phantom Menace et al, with a concerted campaign of deflection.

Your concerted campaign of defecation will suffice. I see the thread has headed that way anyway, surprise - surprise. Another epic fairy tale ending for you and yours during this special time of the year.

So, back on topic. Any updates to this story?

I think the distinction between transfusion and infusion was astutely pointed out early in this thread by another poster. I'm assuming at this point, only infusion equipment was found. Though illegal, does this constitute a doping violation?

I seem to remember that after the 2003 TT to Cap Decouverte when Lance suffered in the heat, some mention was made of his having to replace a significant amount of lost fluids. Wasn't this done using IVs?

Lance really would rather ride 17 year old girls that remind him of his mom.

Armstrong will say that the kits were for a diabetic mechanic.
LOL, all the funny comments on a non-intending funny discussion topic are amusing.

They used their thawed out packed red cells that had been frozen for months. They raced at 50%+ crits all of em, only hemodiluted down in the mornings. They obviously had lots of transfusion equipment and what was taken by the French did not stop them!

It's nauseating to think that she is getting a stage, when she clearly hasn't a notion. But the Livestrong.com link is interesting. The pro-Lance brigade will know this article off by heart.

A very interesting point is made in the story ...

"Despite all this, and even considering that the 2009 Tour champion, Alberto Contador, would also be implicated if these medical supplies were to contain any incriminating evidence, this investigation is undoubtedly aimed primarily at Armstrong. For reasons that Armstrong believes have to do with national pride, the French have had it out for the seven-time Tour de France champion since he first won the race ten years ago, according to Armstrong.

Uh huh. And given that what AFLD wants to do is identify the seven different DNAs they found, there's a whole lot of evidence to warrant that assertion, isn't there?

This whole "the French are out to get me" line is very tired. And wasn't Lance going on at the Tour this year about how different his reception at the Tour was this year, and how nice the French were to him? Funny how a whole bunch of dirty syringes can alter your impressions of a whole nationality.

Yip those damn French have been out to get Lance:

Greg Lemond - French name.
Emma O' Reilly - owns a beret.
Michael Ashenden - likes French wine.
David Walsh - had a French titled book.
Frankie Andreu - once had French Fries.
Betsy Andreu - made the French Fries for Frankie.
Paul Kimmage - once cycled in France.
Stephan Swart - also cycled in France (very suspicious)
Filippo Simeoni - Italian, very near France.
Michael Anderson - probably French kissed someone
SCA Promotions - am SCA, bound to have a horrible French connection somewhere...

All these damn Frenchies need a "Shack Attack"...

That is just poor and biased journalism. Anyone on this site could easily come up with a laundry list of their own why the "French" (or anyone else, you decide) are out to get Contador, and Astana, and have been since the start of his career and Astana's inception as a team.

It's hard to fathom that Lunardoni would write such an article about such a sensitive issue in this manner and expect to be taken seriously as a cycling journalist by her peers, and knowledgeable fans.

It was before his first win, when his transformation made of him a mockery to sport
some words of Frankie Andreu's diary of 1999 TDF
http://chipdoc.tripod.com/TdF99/AStageRest2.html
Jul 19th
Lance held his press conference today. I went because I was curious; I had never been to one before. It was held in an auditorium and there were probably a hundred journalists. There were lots of dumb questions and normal questions. Ironically the first two doping questions came from two American journalists. Lance asserted his innocence and told all the journalists that his racing life, personal life, and health were open to questions. Not one of the journalists that had previously bad-mouthed him in the papers asked one question. They always print what they want.
It was before it was forbidden to spit into soup.

Jul 20th, Tarbes

Lance Armstrong, the Tour leader, spent the rest day answering claims in the French press that he could be winning only by using artificial stimulants.

Armstrong, who called a conference near his Tarbes hotel, said: "After what happened in the Tour last year, I think the winner this year, and probably the next, will always be suspected of taking dope.

"I ask only to be treated fairly and not exposed to rumour and innuendo. I will be absolutely open about everything, as I have been with myself and my family, and my racing."
...

"My leading the Tour is a miracle," said Armstrong. "Two years ago I wasn't going to be around by this time. I've lived a different life to most people and have visited my death bed, that is why the [drug-taking] accusations are so disturbing.

"All I ask is that you treat me fairly. France has been very strict in its fight against drugs, and I would remind you that I live here, train here, run my camps here. If I had something to hide, I would stay away from France."

Probably Lance has forgotten those events, Tarbes conference was much harder than description of Frankie.
