Maybe the error they made was having nobody in the RACE... would explain why they didnt chase down the breakaway. Bit difficult to chase down a breakaway in australia from London ;)

My bad!:eek::eek:

Bay Crits Leg 4

Renshaw, Pell & Sutton in the break. W Sulzberger chasing it back for Goss.

All back together now

Sky makes a team attack, two riders go up the road.

Its splitting up like crazy.

10 mins to go: Cooke & Swift on the attack.

Goss attacks, Matthews responds

Attacks are going but coming back pretty quickly.

25 riders left - hard race, Cooke attacks, tries to bridge up to Swift and Lane

Goss wins ahead of Davis, Matthews 3rd.

Goss takes series win

Erm...Firstly he was quite tubby this time last year & secondly looking at pics of him from the tour down under last year he looks quite similar.

Last January he was out of shape, this year no way. I would say he’s pretty close to peak race condition.

Yes but looking at him I personally think he doesn't look as fit as a lot of the otthers. He did say he was training hard for tdu but I am not sure he really is in good condition.

*Not australian so ineligble to win title

btw, it is a bit of a shame that the time trial championships don't have Australia's top 3 time trialists (Porte, Rogers & Evans) competing. Will Clarke is a roughie for mine in that event.

Gerrans has to be the red hot favorite for the Mens RR, but can someone tell me why his pommy team mate is riding? Likewise why is Koen De Kort entered?

I thought the race was only for Australians?

I don't see De Kort on the startlist. I do see Floris Goesinnen however, who will ride for his Aussie teammates (whoever they are, I think he'll ride for Drapac this year?)

And yes I missed Floris when i looked at the list last night.

Anyone have an answer?
Ah, I only saw the pdf file somewhere else in this thread. De Kort isn't on it. But as far as I know the Aussie championships have always been open? Probably because the number of Aussie pros was never very high?

They can't win so obviously they'll just work for their Aussie teammates doing whatever is needed but be far enough away from the top3 at the line

Actually they are not prevented from winning themselves at all. Its just that the Australian Championship will be awarded to the first Australian over the finish line, regardless of how many foreigners are in front of them.
