The ultimate worst Jersey in my opinion is Norways national jersey design weared by Kurt Asle Arvesen in 1997 winning the U23 Worlds ahead of Oscar Freire..

Of course Topsport Vlaanderen makes a nice Belgian nat champs jersey.
Besides; that's how the Belgian nat champs jersey has to look. Imagine if de Vreese had won it and we'd been forced to spend a year looking at an Astana-style jersey.
For the same reason I was kinda hoping Fuglsang wouldn't win the Danish nat champs... now we just get another year with the wonderful combination of red, fluo-yellow, and blue.

I just remembered Sergej Gonchars Ukranian national champ jersey from 2004, pretty bizarre id say.

This was the original De Nardi jersey.

What is better, german champion jersey + white shorts or black shorts? Wegmann at gerolsteiner looked great in white bibs but greipel really strange.

The Belgians wouldn't allow an Astana-style jersey. Like the Brits they're quite strict on their jersey. Hence why even Radioshack had to make Devolder a proper jersey, and why with Movistar, Visconti and all the Spaniards got crappy three-stripes-in-the-middle-of-the-normal-kit outfits, but Dowsett's British TT kit was white with the national bands.

That German jersey looks good. Because white with the flag bands matches the national sporting colours and a traditional jersey style it means it's a hard jersey to make a mess of (unless you're Radioshack). I think because the sponsor's logo involves thick, bold black text it will make more sense with the black bibs personally.

I agree. I see the one on the right and I think UK. I see the one on the left and I think the Netherlands first, then Luxembourg, Russia, France and the other 59 European countries that use three stripes of red, white, and blue on their flag. So boring.

I prefer it when they get creative with the national jerseys, even when they miss. Anything but the same old thing every year.

I don't mind if a national jersey is strictly traditional, very innovative, or at some point inbetween as long as it is clearly visible and instantly identifiable as a champions jersey. Champion Systems had a number of very well designed "creative" takes on national jerserys.

Alex Dowsett even said while being interviewed, that for the next year he'll be recognised as the British or Dutch national champion. It raised a laugh between people off camera.

Agree about the Brit nat champs jersey. Why have three stripes when your flag isn't three-stripey?

As for creative jerseys; my favourites has to be Jelly Belly's take!

Yes. Very clearly national champions jerseys, using flags or national emblems but in a "non traditional" way. They also managed to integrate the national jerseys with the standard team one in terms of visual identity by incorporating the same design touches and patterns rather than by super imposing colour combinations that really don't work together. Being able to do that was probably a result of them having a sponsor more interested in showing off their nice jerseys than in preserving brand colours uniformity, but I really wish it was the norm.
