Seems Millar is very popular on the comments section on 'Millar fumes over non-selection...' thread.

I posted that I was glad he didn't make the team and that he should be 10 years into a life ban and get replies like this...

"PedalPower18214 minutes ago
dude… chill your mammaries. Everyone makes mistakes. How did he contribute to pro-cycling? By risking his career to provide the most comprehensive testimony regarding doping at the time. Everyone deserves redemption, even you!"

I wonder would there be fewer replies like that if I'd written that about Contador/Valverde/F.Schleck etc.

Millar is unwell. He had to pull out of National TT champs due to the coughing, a few days before the Tour.

Not the rider I'd be taking.

I'd be more concerned by the fact he's shown no form whatsoever this year as opposed to some coughing a week before the Tour.

Let's be honest here - Dowsett was unlucky, just look at the press conference Unzue did the other day, it sounds like he's genuinely disappointed that Dowsett can't ride. The Yates boys will certainly get their chances but it's probably best they wait a year at least.

Wigans, Millar and Kennaugh got shafted big time but should get a shot at La Vuelta.

Dowsett wasn't unlucky. He doesn't deserve a place based on his form/results this year.

Kennaugh deserves a place ahead of Zandio in the Sky team but then so do Siutsou and Knees as well.

We know why Wiggins isn't there. He wouldn't give his all for Froome. That's a perfectly valid reason for not selecting someone.

Look at the Movistar squad for the TdF. Plenty of climbing power with Piti, Izaguirre, Intxausti etc but they need a rouleur. Castroviejo is still decent but the climbing work he's done the last year or so has made him less effective on the flats. Dowsett would have been valuable the first two weeks.

Zandio was a strange choice, I guess he's in with the Froome crowd, unlike Wigans and Kennaugh. Wigans strikes me as being mature enough to do a job for Froome - even if it's not to his best ability - but not sure if it would happen the other way around though

Mo Farah at the brink of death apparently, due to a bad tooth and dehydration
Nike Oregon Project coach Alberto Salazar said paramedics on the scene last month in Park City, Utah were convinced Olympic champion Mo Farah was suffering a major heart attack.

Farah was rushed to a Park City hospital by ambulance. Doctors at the hospital were alarmed by heightened enzyme levels, which could indicate a heart attack.

Salazar went to Farah's home in Portland. There he said he found Farah's wife, Tania, who had just talked to doctors in Salt Lake City.

"They had told her to prepare for the worst," Salazar said.
The pain lessened and then went away altogether after a few days, Salazar said. But Farah remained weak. More tests by doctors in both the U.S. and Britain have been unable to conclusively determine a cause for the pain.

Farah had an infected tooth at the time, and not been able to eat solid food. Salazar believes Farah had become dehydrated and weak.

Doesn't Dr. Maffetone harshly criticize Salazar and the training he did with his coach?

The smell of BS off his version is positively epic !

Doctors so incompetent that they spend 4 days checking his heart, & telling his wife to prepare for the worst, when he just has an infected tooth, & a belly ache :rolleyes:

Streptococcus mitis and similar bacteria that live in the mouth can attack the heart valves.
Doesn't cause a heart attack, but might have something to do with it. Still, that story is strangely put. Obviously he had more symptoms than just pain in his tooth, according to that version of the story.

Worth looking MO's version of events to the BBC, compared to the US one..

"I had a tooth taken out and it got infected. I went for a run, came back and collapsed," said 31-year-old Farah.
"I was in so much pain from my stomach. I had to be airlifted to hospital."
He continued: "They thought something was going on with my heart."

But no mention of:

But Farah remained in so much pain he was on a morphine drip.

Him & the Queens race horses must be on the same program ;)

It does come across like a typical he almost died as a side effect of doping and then came up with a PR excuse.

His performances from now on will be telling.

Farah hypocrite

Mo Farah: from lefty hero to tax exile in 10 short months...“Robbie Williams and Mo Farah have called on George Osborne to clamp down on tax dodging firms.
“The stars have thrown their weight behind the ‘Enough Food for Everyone IF campaign’ that beckons global firms to pay their taxes in the world’s poorest countries.”.

“Farah now lists Portland, Oregon as his main place of residence; it’s where he’s been part of the Oregon Project, coached by Alberto Salazar, since 2011. He also spends part of each winter training in Kenya and has now reportedly submitted a non-residency application to HMRC.......”.

I think the tabloid toilet rolls have already commented on it over here - we don't have much in the way of decent weather, never mind high altitude that isn't pelting down with rain and freezing like up in the Scottish highlands.

As a fellow Londoner I quite like Wiggo but he's a bit of a knob at times with his head up his ar*e as we might say!

Mo Farah has pages of TUE's according to a journalist...this is typical of the policy of Alberto Salazar...questions are also there regarding the TUE Gaelen Rupp has for thyroid issues...apparently thyroid TUE's are a speciality of Alberto.

Mo Farah living in the US is very well known over here, not that anyone would care if they didn't and found out.

As someone who's lived thru a Portland winter; I'd take one in the highlands every time !

The summers are nice though :D

Never been to Portland but I can say this with authority - we have less than 90 days decent weather here in South London a year! As an elite athlete I wouldn't do anything else than what farah and our f1 drivers do for example earning good money for a short time - a stay in 4 different countries a year to avoid giving it to the revenue!

Farah on Eating

Eat like an athlete - Mo Farah

Have you come across any misconceptions/myths surrounding the diet of an endurance athlete?

No, it's pretty much as dull and tasteless as you can expect!

How did you celebrate your epic victory once the competition was over?

I ate my first burger in a year!...

http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/eat-athlete-mo-farah

This article is the most honest I have read from a pro athlete / sports person regarding what they eat. Its interesting....still dont like him though :)

`90 decent days weather in south London', are you sure? I think that's pushing it a bit. I'm in east Kent, today it's rain, sun, rain, sun, the back garden is like a bog, and this is sunny August.

The whole calendar year probably - we've had pretty good late springs early summers and Indian summers in September over the past few years. Though summer itself as a whole has been inconsistent as normal. So I don't think I'm far off.

Though I didn't mention the fact we had more rain this winter since records began in 1766!

I was joking, a bit. I normally take annual leave in August because it should be vaguely warm and vaguely dry, it's not looking that way at present.

I don't know what the Brits have done over the last few years with their T&F teams, but they are definitely world beaters nowadays. Whether it's 'marginal gains' or just getting funding and getting serious since London was announced as host city for the 2012 games or all of the above, they've been everywhere. Jo Pavey, at 40 (almost 41), wins the women's 10000m at the Euro's today in Zurich. That's pretty darn impressive. Mo Farah keeps crushing people left and right in the men's 5000m and 10000m races as well. The sprinters/hurdlers are improving and getting close to the top step on the podium. It's just a matter of time before they start dominating the shot put, javelin, pole vault, etc. Either they have built a well oiled machine with great programs, great coaches and great funding+motivated and talented athletes and everyone gets inspired, OR something is in the water over there...

Spot on. Those three gold medals for British athletes in the Commonwealth Games were pretty damn impressive, one of which came in the pole vault with a height of 5.55 which would have not qualified for a World or Olympic final. Some promising British talent coming through in the men's and women's sprints but, so far, nobody who can get remotely competitive with the Jamaicans. Gutsy performance from Pavey to beat one of the worst championship fields in living memory. Of the British performances so far in Zurich, none have been world class (Farah was well below his best). As for Britain dominating the shot put, javelin and pole vault, I'd like to ask if there is something in your water?
