You mean they're not letting him ride the Tour so he can win Poland for UCI points.

Nah - They've planned the Giro/TDF double on four occasions and this will be the second time he has not recovered to ride the Vuelta.

Interesting from simon today. Judging by one of his pre-stage interviews sounds like he wasn't expecting to be up there today. maybe, just maybe he is taking a slower approach to the summer with him doing to tdf instead of the giro. so no spring-time yates this year. hopefully it pays off

It's more about him doing Down Under earlier this season. He tried to peak for it so he was uncertain he could be in good form here. Not that surprising.

How do you guys rate the Yates bros performance this week? I thought Adam Yates would be fyling a bit more after his UAE performance, maybe it was decided that Almeida was the leader. Simon Yates as expected I guess, similar to last year when he was fighting Rogla in the same race.

A.Yates stuffed up his performance with a poor ITT but was otherwise fine - S.Yates was as expected a bit off his 2022 PN performance but got better each day - He's looking good for Pais Vasco.

I'm thinking I see that these guys may have hit their peak a couple of years ago. S. didn't look nearly as punchy, but that's just my impression...

I just wanna see a real - 1-on-1 - battle between them!
Perhaps they are like the William's sisters who did not enjoy playing each other.
On a bigger scale I fear this may be the year when we have so much top talent, but rarely, if ever, each other.

Basque Country is the race where they will both truly go head-to-head. I fancy Adam to beat Simon as he'll be better suited by the weather conditions.
