Wow. Harsh. The guy just rode 4 consecutive GT's: wins le Tour, 3rd in the Vuelta, 3rd (now) in the Giro... and one bad showing means the end of his GC days? I wouldn't write Carlos off yet.

Same with Cadel... 2nd at 2008 tdf, 4th at 2007 Vuelta, 2nd at 2007 tdf. Same with Menchov as well. Thsoe guys will come back stronger than ever i believe

As for the team I doubt he will want to share leadership but want the backing of a strong team.

HE wanted a whole team behind him. Look what happened with Sastre and Hushovd. Hushovd was great but Sastre was terrible as their was a conflict of intersts. It would be nice to see 2 of australia's greatest tour de france cyclists riding on the same team again.

and i won the sack race at shool in 1976... history counts for absolutely nowt.. its what your doing now that gets you signed, and cadel, frankly has been pi55 poor for a while.. (although he has at least gfained some sense of humour.. when he got to the C-E on sunday and the fans all shouted for charlie - nope, not a single person calling cadels name - he joined in and started chanting charlies name as well.. - and sorry, yes really, not a single person was shouting cadels name on sunday, his popularity is that low.. ) but anyway...

Bit harsh, didn't he finish 2nd in the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré beating Contador??

I admit he's not the most popular guy out there & is prone to whining but he's still a pretty good rider.

I would have said that about Sastre a year and a month ago. Cadel might be like Hincapie and Paris-Roubaix. Hincapie could win P-R if everything fell into place, but it is not likely to ever happen.

Evans might benefit a lot from a change. A new team might adjust his training or simply put him in a situation where he has a better mental outlook.

History in a sack race and histroy in a tour de france are completely 2 differnet things. I was not at the tour but i say numerous bunches of aussie fans their supporting mainly Cadel. I saw this and their was even a bunch of cadel fans wrote a song about. Their was many supporters for him there. History means nothing statement is bs. Look at Lance Armstrong he proved your statement was bs.

Change could and should help Cadel if he makes the choice to move. Look at the change from T-Mobile to Lotto did for him. It rejuvanated his career. But a rider of his calibre deserves better support crew and team around him to give him what he needs.

I am not saying he will win the tour but i am saying is that you shoulf never write off guys like Evans, Sastre and Menchov just because of 1 bad tour.
