That list is missing Saxo Bank. So that would mean ether BMC or Vacansoleil needs to hope for a 22nd spot.

Or does anyone think that BMC with Cadel Evans could even beat out BBox, Cofidis or Cervélo for a wildcard.

Without Cadel Evans BMC would be the last ranked of the listed teams to get a wildcard but with Cadel it's a diffrent situation but it would still be a tight race to get an invite.

Lampre and Lotto could fine themselves marginalised. But it starts in Belgium, so less likely Lotto get ditched. I still think Vasconsoleil are on the margin. Even with brothers Feillu.

Lampre are gonna be on the bubble, if the ASO do not fit 22 teams in. Skil is out at this stage, even tho the ASO fellated them last Tour and said they had a berth for 2010.

Milram could be left out?

Bbox, Vacansoleil, Cervelo, BMC, Cofidis in as wildcards. Milram & Footon out.

Is it totally definite that Sky will be invited? I mean, the team isn't amazing. I would rather see Skil.

If I was choosing, I would have Milram, Footon, Sky & Pharma out, with the above coming in along with whoever Rasmussen chooses to go with :p

Not a chance. They represent a very important market. Same reason Sky
is a shoe-in.

Aw, what a waste of an invite..

What market do Sky represent? Surely all the Brits will be looking at Wiggins & Cavendish rather than Lovkvist, Augustyn and BH..

I would rather have my wildcards anyway :D

Yeah, I thought he meant that Sky represented a particular national market, like Milram do.

I hate how money rules everything :(

Murdoch (News Ltd) only own 38% of Sky I think. Is it not a listed company? And Murdoch has controlling share, but obviously it is a listed company, and not operationally controlled by Murdoch and News.

whereas shoo-in has the opposite meaning:

shoo-in
n. Informal
1. A sure winner.
2. One that has a sure chance of being chosen, as for a job or other position.

If you know anything about UCI regulations it is a big no-no to mention any team names until all paperwork is completed. Why tell, it;would spoil the fun of everyone guessing. I don't post BS.

I really don't think that the UCI rules apply to speculative posts made on a cycling thread by a person using a pseudonym and an avatar of a man-child. :D

However, you have made this thread interesting by yanking a few chains.

If I was Cadel, I would laugh myself silly reading people's posts heaping abuse on each other over which team I will ride with next year. Some people need to step outside and breathe.

Now the Aussies say it's Garmin:

Wiggins to Sky, the key again.

Like a bad case of Chinese whispers....

No, AC was the key. He has said that it is Astana or a Spanish team he will be with. Legalities pending, the options are Astana or Caisse d'Epargne. Vaughters wants AC. He won't get him.

I had wondered if Cadel's new team relied on where AC goes. Anyone remember the talk at the end of September and the JV quote on twitter about good news? It was just before the AFLD released the results of those retested 2008 Tour samples. Most posters assumed it had to do with an elevation on GC status for CVV from 2008 or Contador joining. It is now safe to say it was neither. So what was it about?

I still think Wiggins is going to Sky based upon his whingeing and comments that were defended by the Brits as jokes (you know which ones). He suffers the same ego elevation that I suspect Cadel has had after his WC win...I deserve more money. Sky also want a British GC rider, not an aussie. This means Garmin have a probable vacancy. Cadel is better than both Wiggins and CVV. Supposedly clean team and supposedly clean Cadel. PR wise that fits. It is an off chance and unlikely but JV's twitter comments about good news were around the same time Cadel sat down with Silence management. But this is just a wild theory. I think it is BMC or Lampre.

Could be the Shack. That would be hilarious!

What kind of work does he have to look forward to once he retires?

He will go work to for ASO and take over Hinault's job of shoving people off the podium. He's the natural choice.

BskyB 39% owned by news corp, murdochs international operation..
Sky italia fully owned by news corp
Sky deutchland is a bit vague, as far as i can see they are linked directly to bSkyB..

but anyway.. they are part of the worlds biggest media organisation and as such will receive coverage across all of murdochs empire..

when bill gates dies murdoch will rule the world...

talking of gates, or course sky have a deal with microsoft that sky can now be received in the uk via xbox... that deal is rumoured to eventually go worldwide..

That Garmin had extended sponsorship to the end of 2013.

Don't trust that rag!

which is something to bear in mind.. all the wiggins rumours, now the cadel rumours.. when murdoch owns so much press he can start rumours at will... any sky rumours, we have to bear in mind where they come from.. ;)

now in football that would be classed as unsettling players and almost constituting illegal approach..

it does though raise the question.. if dave B has gone to the US to talk to garmin.. who would know about it..? sky team, sky, murdoch.. ;)

The question, of course, is whether Brailsford is at the moment sitting in airplane to New York or attending the World Cup Track Meet in Manchester.....

That is a good explanation. A very good one. Thanks for restoring my faith that one of my favourite teams won't be plagued by the WC curse, or Cadel's bad luck. That was the only reason I had that I considered valid for Cuddles joining Garmin. Not anymore.

Vaughters is too smart to buy Evans. It would be overcapitalising their roster. Effectively you have 2x the same riders with Vande Velde and Evans.

Yeah, Wiggo is leaving either this coming season, or in 2011. And if he can sell him for 2 million, and then use that to buy Evans, he effectively gets Evans for free for one year. But he is still doubling down with Vande Velde.

Why buy Evans when he cant win unless he thinks Evans is a clean rider. But he must know what is capable clean and what is not. But those thoughts stick to himself, perhaps, Doug Ellis, and a polygraph.

No one can win of his squad. So in my mind, Vaughters only doubles down with Contador, who can win. Why bother buying Evans who cant win the Tour. Does not make sense.
