I don't know what the exact time gaps were at the bottom of the Izoard, but if I'm not mistaken he rode more or less at the same pace of Atapuma (faster than Gallopin, Pauwels, Benoot etc). He could have battled for the stage win if he wasn't behind at the start of the last climb, but that's his own fault of course.

I don't know what is left in the tank but I hope he goes to the Vuelta, although it could be too much for him (mentally and physically).

This is also what i fear. The Canadian classics and Lombardia could suit him as well as alternative.

Vuelta should be fine for him IMO.

I just hope this Tour gives him the motivation to stay focused on improving as a rider. Then he should be given a bigger role by his team and we might actually see him fight for wins again.

There is hope for Bananito yet.

This is also what i fear. The Canadian classics and Lombardia could suit him as well as alternative.

If Betancur is coming close to his previous best, he's capable of excellent rides at all three. I'd much prefer that over seeing him race flat at the Vuelta.

Does anybody know what he have done between the Tour and now? He could genuinely surprise people and get close to his Giro 2013-level if he has done things properly. I really hope the kid realises this is his opportunity and he won't get a better one.

Yeah I just read that, I guess that answers my question. He comes across as very optimistic in the interview, this really is the time to shine for Carlos..

It seems Carlos has finally decided that he wants to be a professional bike rider after all. Hopefully this is the start of him getting back on track.

It seems Carlos has finally decided that he wants to be a professional bike rider after all. Hopefully this is the start of him getting back on track.

I think he should stay on the road tbh, track is too flat for him
