Betancur, the last place at the Vuelta, is among the strongest Colombians?

Sure Betancur's had some results, but right now he's riding like a sack of potatoes. If he does anything remotely competitive at Worlds it would raise serious eyebrows.

why would betancurt care if he finishes last or 80th? or any rider for that matter. the lack of understanding amonsgt forum members here is always baffling me.

Really? Wow, then it's even worse than i thought. But AG2R are a joke, after the second half of the 2013 season you'd think that the wouldn't make the same mistake again. If Acqua & Sapone were able to understand how to handle Betancur there is no excuse for a WT team.

ag2r are a horribly managed team which couldn't be worse for betancurt.

Yes, but after 2013 the should know that you can't let him go back to Colombia durning the season, remember what happened last year after the Giro?

it happened every year. also in acqua en sapone. his first year 2011. betancurt showed up way overweight in march. sucked everywhere until henninger turm. then acqua were mad but decided based on henninger turm to oput him in ther giro and after 3 weeks he was finally in great form and lost his weight and finished 2nd or 3rd in that queenstage. he always had this problem. when betancurt won giro bio the antioquia coahc made sure he was first riding a ton of races incluing vuelta juventud right before giro bio to get him in form for it. if you see foto;s of betancurt during giro bio you don't even recognize him. the only good winter he ever did was 2012-2013 winter

looks good. but more important is his form, not his weight as even overweight he can win races and the wc I say he would actually benefit from some extra weight

Maybe, but they are one of the best performing teams of the World Tour this year.

and they sucked pretty much all years before. ag2r is only good at one thing which is acquiring the right riders who happen to be either internalli motivated or trained by external trainers like pozzovivo, peraud and others

Few riders care about finishing 80th or last, but few riders let go when they're feeling absolutely comfortable in the peloton, until they hit the last climb. If you finish last, chances are you never felt very comfortable in the race.

If you are going to be such a blind fan of Betancur, at least spell it right!

Well, he finished last a few times in the first week but last week was relatively okay or? Just looked it up, yesterday the first time in the Top 100! He was 88th. :D

But it would not be the first time that he suddenly becomes very competitive. His results it can be deceiving.

One that gives him a contract with a very low base wage but big performance incentives. ****ing with their cash is the only language lazy, unmotivated kids understand.

Ryo blaming his abject lack of work ethic on the "horrible" management team is mildly amusing.

Well, i think nobody will blame anyone but Carlos himself for his lack of work ethic. Ryo blames the team management for letting him get away with it, his negative attributes were well known to them when they signed him.

learnt o read. I'm not blaming anyone for his lack of effort. it's simpoly ridiuclous that a team who pays their leader so much money allows that rider to keepo repeating the same mistajkes. what kind of bull**** manager are you then?

+1.

Well, Ryo and others are assuming that teams knew about his work ethic. I am not sure about that. Now every team knows!!

of course ag2r knew about betancurts work ethics after last years horrendous vuelta  to then let him do EXACTLY the same this year is beyond stupid

No it is not. They have written him off as bad investment. Those happens in business or in sports. Now, investing even more in personal trainers, having someone watch over him after the evidence shows he doesnt have work ethics required, now that would be stupid.

The guys is the only one to blame. Ag2r made right decision by focusing on other riders.

If they knew- then why he was hired in the first place? talent alone? At this point AG2R are just careless about him-as they're entitled to- and going to allow his contract to expire & lift that "weight off their shoulders" so there is no "remorse" or "regret" when the time comes.

He better know he's on his own, the team will not help him at all and whatever he believes he's entitled to, he must "earn it" first before "asking" & then if he achieves a decent season, then he can well open his mouth- not before- so then he can start gaining "respect" from his colleagues & the public instead of mockery & criticism......
