I don't think he can be too thin. :D

We will see how the upcoming (hard) stages will go. He is still a big question mark.

He is perhaps not fat but he is definitely overweight for being a "climber".

Just look at his legs! Those are not a climber's legs but more of a sprinter's legs.

He still got few weeks to lose those extra 5-10kg before the Giro.

Thanks for the picture. Just what I was talking about. There is a difference between "climbers" legs and "fat" legs.

Netserk's picture can just confirm that as those legs on his picture are pretty muscular compare to what he was "wearing" today :D

All he got to do is to turn those 10lb of fat into muscles and he will be OK

Just fat!

We went this route already. Need a lot more races.

He wanted to do the Tour and not the Giro. It looks like he is going to have to pull an Ullrich here. loose the pounds in the Giro just to be in form for the Tour LOL. Not sure if management in AG2R will like that.

A LOT more races need... We will see. Some day he will be back in shape, but it is a long way to go.

But he has a packed plan for the upcoming weeks. Lets wait for some more improvement....

Certainly could've been the first Colombian to win a gt again at the 2013 Vuelta - Ruined his career instead, so far.

Still won Paris - Nice though!

Comparing against 2013 his best year, he is not on track. So maybe he just needs the Giro for loosing extra pounds.

I also still believe in this guy, like you do.

But honestly: if he really needs time including the giro to loose enough weight, he will be exhausted after this long procedure and need time to recover --> putting some weight on again.... Actually I think this could turn into a circle.

Maybe.

I think with the weight that he has this could be a lost year. He could ride into form towards end of year but it will be the end of the contract. The benefits will be seen by the next team that picks him up. LOL.

Re: Re:

We will see.... It's still some time left until the Giro starts and this picture of his legs looks not very nice, but his upper body doesn't look too fat. Maybe he will show some form.

I'm at least excited to see him in Pais Vasco. Even if it was too much, from the first stage of Tirreno to the end of Catalunya you could see some improvement.

Given the bunch was so big (60) I had expected him to make it over in the first group. :(

Now I just hope he will be in shape for the Giro.

oh man......... this is just....... gross

Hey!! My legs look just like that! But of course I'm not a pro trying to climb mountains with the sport's elite. Still, the word "gross" is a bit of an exaggeration, isn't it?

For those who speak Spanish: http://www.esciclismo.com/ampliada.asp?Id=33590

In short, he says he's slowly getting back into shape and is aiming to be in optimal conditions for the Giro.

I want to believe he can do it; but if he can't keep up with the peloton in a stage like yesterday's, I'm afraid he might be out of time. Hopefully he'll show substantial progress this week, we'll see.
